The thing is, I can unlock custom moves and equipment just fine, but I no longer get any new Mii hats. Is there a reason for this or am I doing something wrong? Help please ;-;

The percentage is getting new items is lowered when you collect more stuff. Try playing with multiple friends to increase your chances

Smash Run if you have friends to play with, Classic without. Smash Run drops a lot of customs if you're playing with other humans, but Classic on high difficulties is the best single-player way.

So simply play as Miis in Smash Run with friends, and that will give me a higher chance?

Well, mostly yes. Lemme explain...
I've had a few opportunities to play Smash Run with two and three players. Classic on 7.9 beats Smash Run with two players, and 8.5 beats three. Four players likely beats 9.0, but I haven't had a chance to see myself. So you'll probably need a full team to make Smash Run better then Classic. Oh, and set the CPUs to Miis too, it also effect the drops.

So like, if you play as a Mii and all the CPU's are Miis, it works better? Cool!

Someone pointed out that playing as the Mii Fighter does NOT improve your odds of getting Mii Headgear and/or Mii Suits. All you can really do is grind for the equipment, and you might get lucky.

Just keep note that in Classic Mode, you can only get up to 5 custom equipment in one match, regardless of the intensity level.

Hm, I wasn't sure myself. But at the very least it removes the bias to whatever character you're using's customs.

Oh, and I've heard that higher intensities gives you more new stuff, but I'm not entirely sure it's true.
