Is this true? how long do they last? Also, what common mid air moves does Sonic's U-smash beat?

Yes. One frame. There a quite a few of them thanks to the invincibility frames and it's insane disjoint.

I've beaten out Rob Dair and Falcon Kick with it. I don't use the Usmash very much, though. The lag afterwards scares me and it never kills. Pretty powerful at poking people on platforms, though.
