Read an article a few months back saying that playing online smash could potentionally brick your Wii U/ wipe your HDD. I thought it was phoney at first, but there are several legimitate posts around the internet of it happening.

I havn't really been playing Smash online all that much- or even smash period, all that much (Tons of other, newer stuff to play has kept me occupied). But lately i've been getting into smash again and want to start playing For Glory. Has this issue been addressed and patched yet?

Down on the corner, out in the street.
Its not Smash Wii U. The glitch has been around since launch and has been affecting many other games such as Black Ops 2, Hyrule Warriors, etc.
The only reason people associate this with Smash Wii U is because of how big the game is.

As far as I know, I haven't heard anything patch wise.. probably cause I haven't been keeping up with it.

Oh interesting. Yeah, that makes sense, its probably what most people are playing on their Wii U's right now. Hopefully they did patch it, im a little afraid of using my Wii U because of it. It's always there in the back of my mind, haunting me with "is it gunna happen to me!?"

I haven't heard of it being fixed (and don't recall a system update), but if you think about it: it's not actually widespread, it's just widely covered, like any somewhat uncommon illness in the news. It's unlikely to happen to you, so just play the game normally.

My Wii U has the blinking red light of death. At first it would just freeze up if it utilized the automatic shutdown feature, and wouldn't want to turn back on unless you unplugged it for about 15 seconds. Now it just won't even turn on anymore. My Monster Hunter 3U disc is still stuck inside... It costs $100 to fix/refurbish. I bought my Wii U near the launch window.

I have not heard of this either. Is it really widespread?
