i can't beat a decent snake for the life of me. hes too heavy, all his mines and projectiles to keep track off and even if i do close the gap on him he hits like a truck with AAA and his tilits. also his dash attack is faster than mine somehow.. i honestly dont know what to do against him as zss. any suggestions?

Ive run into this same problem, specialy with the snake dash makes it extremely hard. Its usualy not a good idea, but you need to be thinking spike the hole time, you can gimp his recorvery and not many other charactors can..

OR, do what i did and pick up falco for zamus's bad matchups like snake, its been working out pridy well.

Snake is a terrible match-up for ZSS. My only advice is another character, like Falco as artifice said.
One character really can't take on the whole cast very well anymore which is why I'll start most matches as Samus and just use her. If it becomes necessary or my opponent is a bad match-up for Samus, I'll transform. If I already know my opponent is a bad Samus matchup, I'll just start as ZSS.

i think zss can d-throw into like, 3 up airs.

snake gets combo'd really easily. you just have to watch out.

Snake is kind of an interesting case, simply because he can keep you at range without using standard projectiles or kill you in melee without using smashes. The thing is, that's how he HAS to play.

I generally engage him at medium range. Tip him with with forward smashes and fish for Paralyzer hits. The thing is, Snake has some Excellent tilts, but his f-smash is garbage and d-smash, while useful, is not for straight up combat. U-smash is awesome, so don't approach him from the air. If he breaks away from you, short hop paralyzer after him. You're in trouble if he tries to close, because he beats Zamus in close combat, but if you can tag him with a d-tilt, you can hit him with a long and very powerful combo. From there, just keep the pressure on from a safe distance and don't let him set up a wall keeping you out.

Snake can knock you around, but if you don't let him launch you straight up or into a planted bomb, he actually has a hard time KOing. He's not a great edgeguard against someone like Zamus, who can tether and avoid bombs. Pin him down and keep him pinned down.

If you're going to camp from midrange, expect the dash attack. Once you get used to its range its not so bad. You can jump over it or shield grab him.

My roommate is an absolute god with Snake, so I end up having to fight him a lot. I've found that just dodging his grenades is fairly easy, and when you have the chance pick them up and just throw them back. Also, as long as you pay attention to his C4 you shouldn't have much of a problem racking up damage. The problem with Snake is that his dash attack literally teleports him forward into you, which is a problem if you're trying to time that well-spaced >B.

When he dashes at you, shorthop backwards (the direction hes coming at you in) then use neutral air to whip him with your stun, then follow it up with a dash, downtilt, up air.

You can also use fairs when you shorthop backwards, hes tall enough where he will get hit, and you will avoid the dash. It takes some timing practice.

When he uses his grenades, catch them, and throw them either away or at him.

His down smashes are really avoidable, and leaves him open. If you can counter his downsmash with a down smash of your own. Or stun gun.

His recovery, a smart Snake will air dodge, so you might just want to follow him and learn his mind games... an uptilt works great followed by some fair, or uairs.

He is an equal matchup, and if you get used to his moveset, you should be able to dominate on him.
