I'll be blunt: Smashville has terrible music for a tournament setting.
The main problem is how unexciting it is, and excitement in a tournament is very important.
We do have 2 A.M. which is somewhat upbeat, Tortimer Island Medley, which has some pace to it, and Go K.K. Rider, which is OK, but every other song is either slow, calming or both.
Title (Animal Crossing) is way too relaxing for a tournament match. It brings no hype to a high level or finals game at all.
Town Hall and Tom Nook's Store is just very laid back and unexciting too. In fact, a lot of it is pretty inaudible with in game noises and background noise.
Then, there's The Roost. I could genuinely fall asleep to this - it's that slow and relaxing. I don't even think it works in free-for-alls with items.
To make matters worse, Smashville is almost defnitely the most-played-on stage in competitive Smash 4. People are going to see this stage being played on most of the time when tuning in to a stream or something, and if they hear the bland music, they may watch another stream altogether, which would be terrible for the T.O.s.
So, what do we do?
