Hey guys, I'm new to the community, and Smashcon is going to be the first tournament I go to. I'm going to be entering in Wii U singles, considering my tech skill isn't good enough for Melee. Anyways, I was wondering if there was some sort of FAQ I could use, or if not if someone could help me out. Do I need to bring my own controller and controller adapter? Also, I understand the rules, I've watched a lot of competitive games, but I don't really understand the counterpicking system. Simple things like that. Any help would be awesome, thanks!

The counter pick system is like this

The start of the match there will be 3 neutral stages. Both players will ban 1 stage, the last stage is the one you play.
On Wii U the stages are

Battlefield
Smashville
Final Destination

P1 bans first.
Counterpicks can be chosen after the first match. The stages are
Town & City
Lylat Cruise
Halberd
Delfino Plaza
Duck Hunt
Castle Siege

After the match,do this in order.
Winner announces stage ban
Loser chooses counterpick stage
Winner chooses their character
Loser chooses their character

If you lose you don't have to choose a counterpick, you can choose a neutral or a counterpick. The stage ban means that the loser can't pick that stage.

The bans will only last 1 game, however after the first match both players can strike a stage. This means it cannot be used for the whole set.

I'm also pretty sure your're expected to bring your own controller and adapter, have a backpack or something to carry them.
For more info google smashcon ruleset.

Just need to bring a controller. Bring an adapter if you bring a setup. If you bring a setup, you need a tv, console, adapter, and fully updated game with preferably all stages and characters. DLC doesnt matter spending on the tournament, but you should get it anyway just in case!
