[SmashCAP 3]
Start date: 5/15/10
End date: --/--/--
Concept: The Zook Concept
Type: Normal / ???
Stat Spread: 100 / 55 / 60 / 140 / 90 / 70

Discuss viable counters for SmashCAP 3 in this thread. Global forum rules apply.

I know it'll be hard to exact on counters without movepool, but this will develop alongside those discussions once they are started.

Being a special attack, Blissey becomes mentioned, but with a monstrous Sp. Atk stat SmashCAP 3 could possibly tear through.
Being part Normal-type means its STAB is resisted by Steel- and Ghost-types. Depending on what we run for coverage, these threats might become more easier to handle.

That said, Lucario comes to mind. STAB Fighting-type moves, part Steel-type, and his speed puts him ahead of SmashCAP 3. Unless SmashCAP 3 switched in on a Ghost-type, there's nothing stopping Lucario from clobbering away with a Close Combat.

Just to say, a Pokemon that has potential to switch into another and force them out completely constantly has extreme Potential to use Substitute. This thing absolutely screams Aura Sphere, so with that, Steels are a thing of the past, no way to kill it, and it has plenty of ways to kill others.

If this thing doesn't get Dark Pulse I'll be calling this SmashFlareon.

Because moves Pokemon obviously get are not given.

Give it Shadow Ball. Switch into Rotom-A's Shadow Ball, and OHKO with a STAB one.

I'm seeing the problem already.

Substitute/Tri Attack/Aura Sphere/Shadow Ball, perfectly reasonable aesthetically and type-wise.

Perfect coverage. No missing. 2HKOs almost everything in the game, almost guaranteed Substitute.
This guy will be the thorn on Lilibelle's vines.

I'm gonna list stuff based on both things coming in at the same time.

Salamence: Will OHKO with STAB Outrage, heck even Dragon Claw maybe. (Same for most dragons)
Mamoswine: KOs the Normal/Ground type with Ice Fang.
Jirachi: Can T-wave on the first turn, maybe throw up a sub and flinch, with some sets carrying fire punch. Might even be able to CM, his attacks so far hit Jirachi neutrally.
Weavile: Normal/Dark + Brick Break/Low Kick = Yeah....
Infernape: SE Close Combat

I think most physical attackers can do away with this thing.

On the subject of Blissey, I dont know if theres a program that lets you make up Base Stats and calculate, but I used +1 LO Pory-Z attacking with 90 fighting special, and the most itll do is 50%. So the question is, are we gonna give this thing Nasty Plot/Calm Mind?

It definitely looks like it should get Nasty Plot. Sub-Nasty Plot would help it tear through some stuff, and besides, look at that face. Might as well call him Gengar if he doesn't get it.

smogon's calc actually lets you make up base stats IIRC

also, give it trick, it can totally use it

IT CAN RUIN ROTOM-A!!!!
hell yea, i hate the living guts of rotom-a, it really makes non-ou pokes completely worthless

it's like, i have a NU poke, GO ROTOM-H!!!
then you go, ****, and watch rotom make mince meat of your not so popular guy

give it vaccuum wave

1. For all those counters, a Sub easily ruins their plans, taking a LO 140SpA is only possible by Rachi, who is absolutely ruined if you get Water or Fire Type copied to resist its attacks, and will easily be 2HKO'd.

2. Blissey is a tricky one. If it can kill the sub in a single turn, or is a CM varient, it will win. Otherwise?... ugh.

The scenario I was talking about was both Pokemon coming in at once. I only chose faster counter for my ideas to work. Otherwise, if this thing already has a Sub up, I wouldnt know what to do. Maybe sacrifice a Pokemon to take it out.
