This was a concept I cooked up a year or so ago and made some images but I thought it be cool to share here and see what the forum would do if they made a Smash for GBA.

Info
Super Smash Bros Advance is the third title in the Super Smash Bros series and the first handled entire series. It was released on September 22nd, 2002 worldwide on the Game Boy Advance and was developed by Hal Laboratory, Nintendo and Camelot. Similar to Mario Kart Super Circuit on the system, Smash Advance blends the styles of its two previous entries (Super Smash Bros. and Super Smash Bros. Melee) into a unique style.

I have an old thread for this, and because this seems to more like the create a crossover thread, here is a new attempt, using the early fall 2002 release timeline and 16 fighter limit.

Fighters
:ultmario::ultluigi::ultpeach::ultbowser::ultdk::ultyoshi:
:ultlink::ultzelda::ultsheik::ultsamus::ultmarth::ultfalcon:
:ultkirby::ultfox::ultness::ultpikachu:

For fighters in Melee, I’d probably prioritize the starting cast, Luigi, and Marth, which would be 17 fighters. Because Ice Climbers and Zelda/Sheik would have technical limitations, I’d drop Ice Climbers, but I’d have Zelda and Sheik as separate fighters (I assume they would both be far on development before the split). I considered newcomers, but this game’s hypothetical timeline is too close to Melee’s, so I’m effectively treating Peach, Bowser, Zelda, Sheik, and Marth as newcomers in this instance. If the game came out in between late 2003 and late 2004, I would have added newcomers in the form of Wario, Blaziken, Pit, and Isaac.

If we’re including secret fighters, I’d just pick Luigi and Marth given that everyone else in Melee was planned to be a starter.

Stages
Battlefield
Final Destination
Above Peach’s Castle
Mushroom Kingdom 2 (Subcon)
Bowser’s Castle (Mario Kart)
Jungle Japes
Hyrule Castle
Dark World
Crateria
Yoshi’s Island Melee
Dream Land
Fountain of Dreams
Corneria
Pokemon Stadium
Goldenrod City
Onett
Big Blue
Archanea

For stages, it’s a little weird to guess, but I’ll have it similar SSB64 where Super Mario gets two new stages but everything else would get one with the exception of Pokemon (I’m treating Melee stages as “new”). For past stages, I’ll pick Above Peach’s Castle, Hyrule Castle, and Dream Land. I’d also have some stages shared between Melee and this game’s.

Gamemodes
Classic Mode (I assume it plays like Melee)
All-Star Mode (3 1v1, 3 1v2, 2 1v3, and a random final fight)
Training
Target Test
Versus Mode
Trophies (this will only contain fighters and Master Hand)

For fun heres my take,

Roster (Starting)
:ultmario::ultwario::ultlink::ultsamus:
:ultkirby::ultfalcon::ultpikachu:Andy

Roster (Full)
:ultmario::ultluigi::ultwario::ultyoshi::ultgnw::ultlink::ultyounglink::ultsamus:
:ultkirby::ultmetaknight::ultfalcon:Kent Akechi:ultpikachu:ScizorAndySami

Went with series that had an early GBA presence plus Pokemon which came later but is huge & probably the most iconic game for Nintendos handheld catalog. Thought 12ish unique fighters with a few echoes/clones to bump our roster up inbetween 64 & Melee seemed fair. Went against Golden Sun as it is a new series overall & company for Smash unlike Advance Wars that technically had earlier entries & Intelligent Systems had content in Melee.

Stages (Home stages are a thing & unlocked with fighter)
  1. Rainbow Road (Mario Kart Super Circuit)
  2. Subcon (Melee Mushroom Kingdom II)
  3. Wario Castle (Wario Land 4)
  4. Yoshis Island (Melee)
  5. Flat Zone (Melee)
  6. Small Temple (Melee, Revised)
  7. Lost Woods (ALttP)
  8. Brinstar Depths (Melee)
  9. Fountain of Dreams (Melee)
  10. Arena (Kirby Nightmare in Dream Land)
  11. Fire Field (F-Zero)
  12. Final Destination
  13. Gold & Silver Stadium (Melee, Rethemed & Static)
  14. Sprout Tower (Pokemon Gold & Silver)
  15. Cross-Fire (Advance Wars)
  16. Battlefield
Dont have much to say on items or modes. Dont think trophies would be a thing though giving the 3d model being a core trait of them imo. Think they would be replaced with trading cards to match (& collaborate with) the ecards but keeping the description & game info.

  2. Luigi
  3. Yoshi
  4. Wario
