For the love of god can someone please help me with this. I cant find a proper equipment unlokable list for the WiiU version. Theres a bunch for the 3DS, but I don't want the 3DS equipment, I want the WiiU equipment!

So is there any place on the interweb that will tell me how to unlock all equipment in the WiiU version? I specifically am looking for equipment that will improve characters jump height (or their v-momentum overall). Most importantly I want it for characters thart get huge recovery nerfs on heavy gravity - like sonic.

Any ideas???

All equipment unlockables are a subset of the 140 challenges. All other equipment is entirely randomly acquired with random stats (within predetermined values.) The unlockables are added to the remaining random pool once the corresponding challenges are satisfied.

Interestingly, however, you can actually receive challenge-exclusive equipment from your amiibo, even before you complete the proper challenge; I received a Double Final Smash Protection Badge from one of my amiibo.

Ah i see, thanks.

Do you by chance know if there are any jump/vertical momentum buffs with any of the equipment?

so.. does the wiiu version have the "leaper" equip? Cause that isnt in the other list witht he wiiu challenges..

EDIT: ya it seems the leaper is only on the 3DS. Does anyone know of anything SIMILAR to "Leaper" that would be on the wiiu?

Also, is there any specific equipment that speeds up endlag of attacks?

Leaper equipment is found completely randomly on the Wii U version. I think the equipment you are looking for is Smooth Lander. You will get it in Brawn Badge form once you acquire all the special moves. After that, you will randomly acquire other Smooth Lander equipment such as boots, gloves, protection badges, etc.

Doesn't smooth lander shorten endlag of landing after being in air, not of all attacks? Or is it for attacks as well.

And Gah, random equipment is so annoying lol.

Yeah some bonus effects are harder to get than others. I still don't have any Double-Jump Drag equipment, and that equipment has a negative bonus effect.

I concur that Double-Jump Drag equipment may possibly be the rarest of the bunch. It is the only bonus effect where I only have one badge (and some non-badge equipment.) I of course exclude Hasty Edge, Meanderer, and Picky Eater, which I almost always throw away immediately.

The funny thing is, the Meanderer equipment isn't all that detrimental if it means making your fighter easier to control on the ground. Of course, it doesn't really lower the negative value all that much.

what do u mean by bonus effect? Like does the description of a badge kinda count as a bonus effect? As in if its a green badge its meant for speed, but if it says it does a specific other thing, that is a bonus effect?

speaking of this, is there other equip that can improve ground (or air) control?

BronzeGreekGod BronzeGreekGod : Basically, some equipment have bonus effects. Generic equipment have rarity level names, but equipment with bonus effects do not have a rarity level.

For an example, a Rare Brawn Badge is just a generic piece of equipment. Whereas, a Glider Brawn Badge offers a bonus effect, which multiplies your fighter's air speed by 1.25x.

Remember that you can view the whole list of bonus effects by going to the page that I've posted a few posts back.

Now, if you're looking for equipment that can increase your fighter's mobility, the following bonus effects would be a good start...
  • Glider: Raises your fighter's air speed 1.25x.
  • Speed Walker: Raises your fighter's walking speed 1.3x.
  • Sprinter: Raises your fighter's running speed 1.3x.
There are even bonus effects that boost all of your fighter's speed attributes, but they do come with drawbacks...
  • Desperate Speedster: Raises your fighter's speed 1.55x for 20 seconds if your current damage hits 100%.
  • Trade-Off Speedster: Raises your fighter's speed 1.3x, but you'll start each life with 30% damage.
  • Unharmed Speedster: Raises your fighter's speed 1.32x, but only while your current damage is 0%.

My reason for generally tossing Meanderer, Picky Eater, and Hasty Edge is simple. They are quite common, and most of my fighters already have access to multiple pieces of "perfect" generic equipment at +85/-42. Therefore, I only keep such equipment if the sum of the positive and negative add up to more than +43, which rarely happens by much with these three categories.

How common would you say Leaper is? Can it be found relatively easily in classic mode, or is it rare?

Leaper equipment falls roughly somewhere in the middle; it isn't really rare or common. Just about any game mode can generate this equipment. As a general rule, here are my recommendations for gathering equipment:

1. If your goal is simply quantity of equipment but not quality (for those who have less than 1500 pieces of equipment as a ballpark figure) then take advantage of the game modes that play themselves. Smash Tour gives out a decent amount of equipment without even playing it, though you do get more if you are actively playing portions of it. My main use of this mode is to gather Crazy Orders passes, where I have over 260 in reserve as I write this. Amiibo battles are also a good way to pick up equipment without physically playing the game, but don't expect to get any Crazy Orders passes. Master Orders, Trophy Rush, Target Blast, and Home-Run contest are further alternatives for getting easy, cheap equipment, though not as effortless as Smash Tour or amiibo fights.

2. If your goal is quality of equipment (i.e. you have 2500 to 2800 pieces or so and are more particular about what stays and sells) then Crazy Orders is absolutely the best game mode by far. As long as you have even just one character equipped with First Striker, Home-Run Bat, and Quick Batter, you can expect to play a lot of turns and be rewarded handsomely. Even if you don't have such equipment, you can always have someone send you a Mii fighter that is appropriately set for Crazy Orders. Outside of Crazy Orders, Classic 9.0 and All-Star mode on the highest difficulties are probably next best for quality of equipment, but they do not even come close to Crazy Orders.

Update:

I have been getting a lot of Leaper equipment in recent Crazy Orders sessions, so perhaps it is one of the more common ones in that mode.

You can pretty much get equipment in most game modes, but some bonus effects are just rarer to pick up than others.
Quick queston about leaper guys.. Does it increase all vertical momentum? Like does it increase ground jump velocity only, or ground and air jump? or does it also affect up b?

I cannot think of any equipment which alters height of up+B moves. It tends to remain constant even while under the influence of either kind of mushrooms. As a result, giant characters look like they're not traveling far with specials relative to their size. Likewise, small characters look like they move quite a distance, even with side-B moves such as Bowser's custom Dash Slash, where it is most prominent.

Back to the question at hand, you'd want Double-Jump equipment to alter your mid-air jump, though I don't know of any equipment that impacts characters' further jumps if they happen to have multiple jumps like Kirby, Jigglypuff, Pit, etc. As for horizontal momentum in the air, you want Glider equipment. For a really fun effect, try Jigglypuff's custom leaping rest move with Thistle jump equipment, or even perhaps stack a few together....

Speaking of which, www.ssbwiki.com/equipment does a good job of describing what happens when you combine multiple pieces of the same equipment with bonus effects. The result generally is not a linear progression. However, it doesn't describe in detail what happens when you combine equipment which seems to contradict itself though. For instance, if you place a home-run bat in slot 1, beam sword in slot 2, and a Mr. Saturn in slot 3, then your first stock will be equipped with the home-run bat, second stock with beam sword, third stock with Mr. Saturn, and all subsequent stocks with nothing. Obviously a third piece of equipment like this would be a waste in Classic mode where you only get two stocks, and the last two would be a waste in Crazy Orders where you get only one stock, and all would be moot in event matches, where no such items work.

Awesome thanks for the details :)
Some of those descriptions are lacking details on the wiki page. I wish there was a clear cut way to fix people's special attacks in heavy gravity. Like sonic, pacman, and megamans up b, and even Lil macs side b on the ground. Gravity ****s all that up as I'm sure you all know.

Anyway thanks again!
