Smash Bros. for WiiU will return as a featured tournament at Glass City Con for 2016!
Glass City Con is an anime convention held annually in Toledo, Ohio, at the Seagate Convention Centre. The Smash Bros. double-elimination tournament will be held Saturday, July 16 at the staging area in exhibition hall A. Signups and special pre-tournament events will begin at 5:30 p.m. and we will look to start the tournament as close to 7 p.m. as possible.
We will follow the same ruleset as previously used for TAGFest and Glass City Con, which closely reflects the standard tournament rules used for most events. More detailed rules can be found at http://www.glasscitycon.com/#!gaming/lmhki
First and foremost, Glass City Con is an anime convention that spans the Seagate Centre in downtown Toledo, so our weekend badge price (venue fee) is $30 at the door for Saturday and Sunday (July 16 & 17), but you can pre-register on our web page at the price of $25 before July 11. One-day badges are also available at the door. There is no extra cost to participate in our video gaming tournaments and competitions as long as you have a valid Glass City Con badge.
Glass City Con provides a self-funded cash pool for the tournament. For Glass City Con 2016, the Smash Bros. for WiiU tournament will pay $125 to first place (plus a trophy); $60 to second place; $40 to third place; $20 to fourth place; and $15 to fifth place.
Other tournaments included in your badge price are: Saturday - Ultimate Gamer Competition (a retro mystery games competition), Rock-Paper-Scissors and Tetris DS; Sunday - Street Fighter V and Pokken Tournament. All of these other competitions also feature cash prize pools, and more information on each is available on our web page. Admission to the gaming hall also allows access to casual/open video gaming, a free play arcade, tabletop/CCG gaming and more.
As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask here, join us on Facebook at "Glass City Con" or follow us at @glasscitycon
