Finally. I was hoping that this topic would pop up on here...
Wait a sec, I know I've seen a thread like this at least once or twice recently...
EDIT: oh yeah. Here:

and Here:

BTW, the second link got closed for the same reason yours will. Search Function people, it's there for a reason.
...and apparently, it already has. But, since the other threads are pretty much shoved all the way back in no-man's land, I'm gonna go ahead and respond to this one.
I got a whole playlist for Smashing on my iPod; since the tourneys I've been to were relatively small in scope, I was permitted to use it during gameplay (no, I have never used a john that has to do with me needing music. I bet if I went to an MLG tourney or something of that nature they'd make me put that crap away. Lol). Plus, I use it in friendlies (obviously).
The main reason why I listen to other music playing Smash is because I don't like SSBM's soundtrack all that much (uh-oh, I see the sticks and stones flying! Lol). Plus, your own personal soundtrack is kinda cool; it does pump you up and get you excited. However, I don't think either of those things improves upon my gameplay; if you see a difference when ya play me, then say it.
Here it is:
Super Smash Bros. Melee: FIGHT!
1) The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly Theme by Ennio Morricone. (This has garnered a number of laughs from my buddies. It's tradition that I always play this song during character select/the beginning of a match. I mean, c'mon, it sets the mood for th' conflict, right?)
2) Explosive by Bond. (An awesome track that I discovered browsing for Naruto videos on Youtube. Nothing screams "epic battle" more than this song; I listen to it several times a day. I also would like to give props to Bob Money for throwing this in the DBR Evolution vid for the Doc a while back; man has good tastes, especially when he throws this song and a Guilty Gear song into a combo video.)
3) Sarutobi by Toshiro Masuda. (A great track from the Naruto OST #3. I primarily picked it for the sake of flavor; I main Sheik, and what better song to accompany a ninja-like character than this?)
4) Heavy Violence by Toshiro Masuda. (Seeing a pattern here? I thought you might. Another song from the Naruto OST #3. This was picked not so much to accompany Sheik but to accentuate the course of any fight I have)
5) Name of the Game by Crystal Method. (Good song to kick *** to. 'Nuff said.)
6) Breathe by Prodigy. (Industrial rock at its finest. Great song, especially when it gets down to the wire in a match.)
7) Vortex Infinitum by Shin Hae Chul and N.E.X.T. (Guilty Gear #Sharp Reload, anybody? Yeah. Another **** good track to play to.)
8) Blacklight Babe by Shin Hae Chul and N.E.X.T. (More Guilty Gear #Sharp Reload goodness. This is probably one of the best songs on the playlist, because it really gets me going, especially during the guitar bridge in the middle).
9) Riches in Me by Daisuke Ishiwatari. (Even more Guilty Gear, but this time it's from the worst Guilty Gear game in the franchise: Isuka. Of course, that's just my opinion. The game does have good tracks, and this is definitely one of them.)
10) Man Made God by In Flames. (It's the bonus instrumental track found on the special version of the Colony album. Epic sounding and highly memorable.)
11) The Final Sacrifice by Avantasia. (Okay, okay, maybe I'm pushing it for adding this song on to the playlist. Let's face it, the lead singer of this band can belt out a pretty high note and make yer face cringe sometimes. However, like with most music, I am a stickler for lyrics and this song's got good ones. The line "Get ready for the brimstone!" is really contagious and makes you feel like a badass as your playing.)
12) Down on Me by No One. (A great metal track. It's fast pace'll definitely get you going.)
13) Before I Die by Mushroomhead. (The first track off of their "debut" album, XX. Fast, hard-hitting metal that just screams "onslaught of combos.")
14) Session by Linkin Park. (The track right before "Numb" on their sophmore album, Meteora. It's a great track with a solid beat. While not as hard and as fast as some of the other songs on the playlist, it still belts out that whole "fight" feeling. Plus, it's a good introduction to the rap section of the playlist.)
15) Killafornia by The Transplants. (Inspired by The Germ in the DBR Evolution video. I may not be from Cali, but I like kicking *** to this song.)
16) N 2 Gether Now by Limp Bizkit. (Yeah, everybody remembers th' Bizkit. They live on in this playlist.)
17) Let's Go by Trick Daddy. (Great song to Smash to; even better song to listen to when playing Capture the Flag on other video games.)
18) Party Up (Up in Here) by DMX. (Probably my favorite rapper. Definitely inspiration to rock somebody's world within this song.)
19) Go To Sleep by Eminem (featuring Obie Trice and DMX). (From the Cradle 2 The Grave OST. Good stuff.)
20) Smooth Criminal by Alien Ant Farm. (Duh! It's my freaking theme song. How can I not put it on my playlist? Lol.)
21) Mortal Kombat Theme by KMFDM. (A classic track from the Mortal Kombat: Annihilation movie. The movie was garbage, granted, but this song is freakin' awesome to Smash to.)
22) Meet Again by Daisuke Ishiwatari and Koh-Ichi Seiyama. (Another song from the Guilty Gear franchise. Probably one of the most epic tracks on this playlist aside from "Explosive." Another great track, especially if you're facing down yer rival.)
23) Highway to Hell by AC/DC. (I threw this song on there because I'm a huge fan of AC/DC.)
24) Dragonstea Din Tei by O-Zone. (The infamous "Numa-Numa song" that gnomes in WoW dance along with. I had to have a little bounce in my playlist, really.)
There ya go. That's what I listen to while Smashing. Enjoy.
