I'm not sure if it was the stream lagging for me or not, but throughout watching the full nearly 4 hours of the stream, I noticed the game was lagging like very 50 seconds of a match, sometimes even sooner. Was it just me, or was the stream just lagging?

I am concerned because, if it wasn't the stream...the game seems to lag an awful lot in what seemed to be Local play...

This happened due to:

1) Interference. Hundreds of wireless devices working in unison in a confined space.
2) The streaming platform. This was causing further interference. Bill Trinen himself clarified this on stream.

Barring a bad connection, I do not think this will be the case when the product goes retail and you are playing it in a more reasonable location. I can say, however, that the demo of the 3DS version does suffer regular frame drop, even in single-player mode. I hope this is just because it was an unfinished product that I was playing. In any event, this was nothing like the freeze-ups you saw at SDCC.

yea, they even took the game off the live stream so people wouldn't think the game is actually like that
it was really embarrassing i felt for them. but hey, that's what they get for not letting peach be in the demo

Yeah you can bet the final product won't be like that. All morning the reps were having trouble just turning the machines on and getting them to free for all properly. They froze up over and over and over as well. Everyone knew right from the start we were going to have a heck of a time when the tournament actually started.

Early demo glitches as well as extreme wireless interference were to blame. I wouldn't worry about it at all.

But yeah, it was just streaming lag, Bill clarified it!
