I'm sorry if this sounds like a blog post or anything, but...

I don't understand myself when I play Sm4sh. Every time I play, I come under the belief that I can't improve on anything, even if it's something as simple as attempting to learn ledge trumping or even just general play. I've hurt myself time and time again, and I still haven't improved despite finding information about my character. I just can't seem to apply anything I tell myself to my play, and the same goes for new information I learn.

What can I do? I've seen a therapist plenty of times, but over the course of a few months, it feels like I haven't fixed anything about my play. Being limited to an hour to prevent myself from hurting or damaging my body, I don't know what to do for myself. At the end of each session, I've tended to damage either my hand or even my head at times.

How can I fix myself?

Whoa! Whoa, If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen, competitive Smash was never fun. So if you found yourself can't do well, you might just need to stop, especially if you have depressed emotion in real life. Try to play other relaxing games. Or find a therapist. I had met a couple of friends who also has this problem before, so I hope you can get better soon.

No matter what, stay yourself control.

The first thing you need to learn is to not take losses too heavily. It's a game, after all. Wins and losses are common, so it's better to not take them to heart.

If you feel like you're stressing yourself out, take a step back and try to calm down. Remember that, at the end of the day, Smash is a game you bought to have fun and enjoy. We all have enough Real Life problems as it is, and we don't need another source of stress, do we? Keep that in mind.

Hope this helps. :)

This is probably the reason why some people don't like competitive Smash scene, it's not for everyone...

When you feel that way, stop, relax while listening to calm music (classical is fine, but I normally listen to Summers from Earthbound) after 10 min. I listen to a song that gets me excited (for me, mechanical rhythm from Xenoblade or Gerudo Valley from Ocarina of time) while getting on smash and when a mach starts, I listen to the same song while fighting. Try that. If it doesn't work, try what @ mario123007 mario123007 and @ FalKoopa FalKoopa said, since that can be a better way than this.

Edit: try which one is best for you, your choice on what to do. don't do this first unless you try other stuff

I'm feeling about the same way, lately. I'm not any good, and the things I need to learn (I'm very very predictable and can't predict other people, or even figure out their behaviors) I just flat out can't do, and it's killing me because it seems like everyone else can do it just fine. I can't do it, I don't feel like I can be taught to do it, I just feel hopeless and helpless about it. I'm ready to give up.
