Hey all, this is my first time on this site and my first post... I love all the smash games, and especially Smash Wii U...

HOWEVER... I'm SICK of having my attacks do smash/charge attacks whenever I push A and a direction at the same time.

I'm playing with the standard Wii U controller and I want to use the stick to do power attacks, but sometimes I just want to do a direction attack... And it REALLY frustrates me that every time I try it does a smash attack. And I can't find in the controller settings a way to remove this option.

Can anyone help me because I REALLY don't want that option.

In the controller options you can set it so that the second stick will do tilts (what you call directional attacks) instead of smashes, otherwise when you hit the A and the stick you HAVE to make sure you're not pushing the stick all the way. The sticks are sensitive and can read when they're not moved all the way which is how you do tilts. That or if you're holding the stick and then pressing A it'll do a tilt even if the stick is moved all the way, since you didn't press A at the same time as the stick movement.

I hope that helps.

Thanks Lunar Wing! I suppose I'll have to try making the smash one do tilts.. Cause I really sometimes prefer tilts. And yeah Cyber. :p There's a lot of knockback on the smash attacks and sometimes I want to do some good damage while keeping them in range of a combo.

I really wish I could keep the controls but remove the smash attacks from The "Attack" button. And yeah I knew if I only press it part way it will do a tilt attack but it's REALLY tedious.

I don't see the tilt option when I go into the second stick. I see the smash attack option but I don't see the option for directional attacks without smashing. :(

yes it's called attack.. but attack automatically does a smash attack when I use it at the same time as a full direction. I can push the direction stick only part of the way but when i'm competing with really skilled players I have to be really fast and can't put the extra effort to only push part way.

Like wolf's "Claw" attack in SSBB. Move like that or the tail whip from Charizard from SSBB. I dont' want the full charge attack but I can't really afford to concentrate on pushing part away because usually I just tap REALLY quickly to beat the opponant to the hit. I want the partial direction attack while not worrying about pushing all the way. I can push the other stick for charge attacks whenever I need to.

Down on the corner, out in the street.
