Smash 64 tournament with GC controls?

Perfect condition Nintendo 64 controllers are extremely hard to come by. I was wondering if they hold tournaments of Smash 64 via Wii Virtual Console. It makes sense, because then you wouldn't have the potential advantage/disadvantage of a shotty controller because brand new GC controllers are easy to come by. Anyone know if these tournaments exist? If not, I think they should be considered! Let me know what you guys think!

I never noticed any frame skipping with Smash 64 wii vc. I did notice less input lag than the original.

Sounds like a good idea, but I don't know of any that exist.
