Okay, I can't be the only one who does this. Just like rivalries in fighting games, every character basically has an obvious partner. Some characters just seem like they fit waaay too well together. I mean, there's the really obvious ones like Mario and Luigi, or Link and Zelda, but I'm more talking about the ones you don't necessarily expect, like pairs from different series.

My friend plays R.O.B., and in 2v2s, and I often pick Robin to compliment him, for example. Since both characters have powerful charged laser attacks (Robo Beam and Thoron), and we both play those characters in pink, it's a bit too hard to resist - it's "Team R.O.B.I.N.", obviously! It totally fits! Sure the similarities are minor, but it's still pretty interesting (To me atleast.) that they fit so well.

-and just off the top of my head I can think of tons of examples where characters have incredibly glaring similarities too. There's Sheik and ZSS (C'mon, these two are insanely similar, for example...), Lucina and Shulk, Mewtwo and Dark Pit... The list kinda goes on, so it really interests me when people share their thoughts on this kinda thing. Share your favourite Smash 4 teams here, I'm genuinely interested!

Lucina and Shulk
Aaaaaah that explains this picture!

Actually it doesn't, that sentence and this picture are the only times I've seen anyone pair these two up together. Honestly, if you were to pair Lucina with anyone that's not Robin or Marth, it'd probably be Zelda because they're both women who disguised themselves as men to protect their identity, or Meta Knight because I see the two paired together rather often and MK fought with the FE crew in the SSE.

Almost forgot to say that after this picture was taken, I think Lucina probably opened her eyes, looked at who was hugging her, then screamed and kneed Shulk in the balls.

Rosalina and Palutena make a perfect team. Also I think Mewtwo fits with Charizard pretty well.

Bayonetta seems to fit well with the Kid Icarus characters, they all have similar cheeky and cocky personalities and come from worlds with angels, demons, gods, goddesses, devils, etc, with crazy over the top weapons and humor and action constantly combined

Plus Bayonetta's trailer with all the KI characters interacting with her, but she would still fit in with them even if that didnt happen

Lucina and Shulk are both thematically similar characters - they're sword-wielders who both fight to change the future in one way or another in their respective games ("The future is not written!"/"The future is ours to decide!" springs to mind.), that's the reason I mentioned it in particular. I do like the Lucina/Zelda one though - very interesting especially considering both are princesses! I can't help but think their sword and magic compliment eachother's fighting style very well, too!

I feel if anything they contradict eachother! Of course their humours are very similar, but Bayonetta herself is notorious for fighting angels and other such divinities, and she has a pact with a demon to boot! If it weren't for her protagonistic streak, I'd say she's more at home with Ganondorf and his dark magic than either of the Pits! I suppose you could argue the opposites attract rule though, so it's not too farfetched to suggest. Though, I feel Bayonetta and Pit are far, far more likely to be rivals than partners...

It's true she's an angel killer, but she kills them because they are threats, not because they are angels. The umbra witches and lumen sages were originally allies and balanced each other out, i doubt Bayo would have any issues with the KI characters because they aren't aggressive destructive zealots like the angels she knows. And the KI characters would have no reason to be against Bayo unless she was trying to take over the world and kill all humans/them, which doesnt seem like something Bayo would have much interest in. They have shown that they are willing to work with others even if they don't like them very much (Pittoo, Viridi, Pyrrhon, even Medusa in a way) so i don't think Bayo would be any exception

The relationship between :4pit::4palutena: and :4bayonetta: would probably be similar to their relationship with Viridi, she might get on their nerves sometimes and do things they dont agree with, but shes still a powerful ally and not evil like Medusa, Hades, etc. :4bayonetta: and :4darkpit: would probably get along well though

IMO the "best" teams are

:4cloud:+ anyone with an easy time getting grabs

or just

:4cloud::4cloud:

Finishing touch is so dumb in doubles, I wonder if they'll nerf it this patch.

Onto the real topic, I think that:4wario::4littlemac:make a really good team. A mix of amazing air game and airspeed mixed with an amazing groud game and ground speed. No safe areas for the other team. Wario can live in and rack up percent well in the air and funnel opponents towards the ground where Mac can stay and roam to finish them off. So much synergy, they complement each others' strengths so much. Plus the team is super scary because it has both KO punch AND waft completing each other, the fear of one can lead opponents into getting hit by the other.

When I play with my friends I love doing Rosalina & Ganondorf. I don't even know why but it's so satisfying, maybe because Ganondorf dominates the ground while Rosalina can juggle in air and use Luma to cover more space.
