Ok guys. So I did a bit of For Glory earlier and got some play in for the day on my quest to get better at smash. Part of the thing I've been trying to improve at is control over my short hop nairs, fairs, and bairs.

So I went into training mode and I kind of just practiced doing short hop fairs. Still trying to work on doing short hop nairs while still moving forward. And short hop bairs are still kinda tricky to get and have them come out quick.

This kind of got me thinking. Are there any other sort of exercises or practices that I could do in training to help me drill those techniques and drill them into my muscle memory? What other sort of training tricks do you guys use to practice outside of playing For Glory?

Perfect pivots and SHFFs. Also perform and practice combos with characters.

Is there a page somewhere that lays out what all these techniques are so that I can see what they are and practice them?

SHFFs aren't too difficult, I was already practicing those earlier alongside the SH Fairs and whatnot.

I'm not familiar with perfect pivots or any other techniques however.

Do aerials with C_Stick not (A).
That way you can keep your momentum/aerial movement while doing the moves

Yea I have my c stick set to attack instead of smash for exactly that reason. Its still a matter of practicing the hand movements and getting the muscle memory down since I don't use tap jump because I feel hitting the button allows me to be more consistent in my short hops.

That said, I played a few rounds of smash with my usual buddies tonight and I noticed and feel that I'm doing better now that Ive gotten into practicing every day and I actually have a main that I'm dedicated to playing as opposed to playing whoever i felt like every time. So seeing a bit of improvement and doing better is a nice little motivator to keep practicing and continuing to read as much as I can to keep the progress rolling.

To be honest to fix the problem you have, use shiek for a while. And I dont mean u have to go on for glory u can just practice the short hop fair combo. Hope this helps, this is what I did and I can preform short hop fairs nairs and bairs fairly easier than before. :) Also try jiggs? She lives on this technique so u can get the practice in.while using her.

I'd just like to point out that even if you have your c-stick set to smash attack, it will still preform aerials when you're in the air. I learned the hard way. (down aerialed off the side of the stage)

EDIT: Nevermind.

He's talking about the issue of having the c stick as smash when u perform a bair while moving foward that your momentum gets interrupted, with c stick as attack that doesn't happen

Oh, I had no idea. I thought they were exactly identical. Thanks.
