Hello fam,
The goal of this ruleset is to incorporate items into competitive Smash 4 play. Having items in competitive play sounds ridiculous at first, but counterpicking items against an friend's character is in itself tactical and surprisingly, very fun.
When i first started putting together this ruleset, I thought items were dumb RNG noncompetitive silliness for children. This is still partially true, except when raw Smash 4 competitive skill is thrown into the mix. As detailed in the document, stupid/noncompetitive items are not allowed, along with a limited total number of items in each match (2 maximum per match). This was a crazy idea at first, but after a lot of testing and some friendlies (and even a small tournament at my college incorporating the ruleset) i was surprised at how much fun the players and I were having.
Just try a set with a friend, and let me know how it goes what changes should be made! A lot of testing went into this, but i'm sure the ruleset could be improved!
