How do you feel about the AI in this game? Is it an improvement?

Moreover, is this AI adaptive? I used to two stock level 9 computers with players I wasn't even good with and this week it seems like I can't even net a kill.

The only thing I changed was that I started reading smashboards D:

The AI is terrible due to being able to perfectly react to any move you do. I wish they had programed in even a tiny bit of delay to make it seem like somewhat of a fair fight. The AI is probably one of my last favourite things about the game. I don't remember it being this bad in any other game.

For most characters I feel it's alright, but when the AI is given a character with fast moves, they can capitalise on their inhuman reflexes and be stupidly strong, and of course if they are given a counter they are just broken.

As with the other games the AI just go off reflex and not off reads or strategy; a lvl 9 dedede or ganondorf is a hell of a lot easier to beat than a fast character like ZSS, fox or mario

There the master of MIND GAMES!

Aside from that, You know What I hate more. When every single CPU WANT TO KILL YOU.

They read every move of your own and weakness but the other CPU are completily forgotten and act like idios when they fight, That is a problem in melee and Smash 4 is worse for the 9.0 Classic mode for the Wii U.

Seeing the other comments here I'm glad to say
"Yay I don't suck!"
Anyways, I do notice they are hella tougher in this then they are Brawl. It does help with practice though, which I kinda need. Like I can rarely beat a fast moving character on lvl 9. They have crazy reflexes, and it makes it a seriously unfair fight often.

Fighting the AI is pretty useful so I can see potential combos of what they're trying to do that I can use when I play their character (like MK's DThrow > Up B).

Other than that they play strictly passive and inhumanly read everything you're trying to do. They're still pretty lacking though as I usually 2-3 stock them in a 3 stock match with the majority of the cast.

You can't really play against a level 9 CPU as you normally would do. It's mostly a case of reading the situation and using the best move for it. You can't rush in as say Sonic or Falcon and expect to juggle them. You just have to chip away at them and then hope to land a kill move. Usually the best bet is to use kill throws (Sonic's back throw for example), but even then, they'll likely react and spot dodge it.

They're not hard, it's just you have to change your style, which some people find hard to do. People tend to lower them to about 7-8 for a more fair match, but Level 9s are doable.

They suck. Play as passively as you can: The ai essentially gimps itself and throws out moves randomly. I've had level 9 AI run up and try to grab me a consecutive 12 TIMES while I just spotdodged.

Their perfect-read airdodging can be exploited to ad infinitum. The ai is so paranoid about getting naired by Little Mac that they eat a Usmash/KO punch on the way to the ground every single time.

We've yet to experience a top-notch Smash AI that recognizes how it's character is played. Project M got close, but no cigar. We need Soul Calibur V level of demonic AI.

Level 9 Mario...dear god he should not be able to wreck me easily with a cape. Since when could the AI's tech perfectly too?

Level 8 is pretty easy. But level 9 just seems to push into hard. I'm plateauing on 9, trying to push my way into equipment feed level 50 amiibo.

A day ago I was playing team battles with my Lucario amiibo against level 9 Shulk and Luigi. I was hanging on the ledge and Luigi tried to see if he could spike me with his down taunt. He tried to do it more than once. What is happening?

The AI is so stupid. I just set them to level 3 or lower for the purpose of using them as "punching bags" to practice combos and my off stage game. Back in Brawl, CPUs were the only way to really practice, since online mode sucked. Now with Smash 4, online is actually really good for actual practice and experience.

Come to think of it, the AI on Hard Mode (Events) and 9.0 (Classic Mode) is also annoying, not because they react instantly like in local play, but because there's so many of them, and not all of them are going to stand there like potatoes and allow you to hit them freely.

Some things the AI does that are really stupid/annoying:

1. Grab you and pummel at very high percent but almost never throw. (Whyyyyy?)
2. Airdodge themselves to death offstage.
3. Spam weak projectiles constantly, even when in range to attack with other moves.
4. Power shield every single hit of the slower jab combos or utilts/dtilts, usually followed by #1 on this list.
5. Mash out of grabs almost instantly at low percent. (nothing new here)

There are lots more but these are the major ones off the top of my head.

I usually set the CPU TO 6 or 7 for the a similar result, but just so they're not total bags of meat. Helps to warm up when cold before any online bizzle.

They're definitely more smarter, I'll give them that. They can pull off some sick combos sometimes, too.

But other than that, they're a pain in that they can basically predict every mode you ever try to do, as well as powershield/spot dodge any move you try to throw out. And don't even attempt to try and hit them when they're airborne.
