They obviously want people to buy both versions. The easiest way to convince others to get both of them is characters. So here is what I think they should do. Give the new characters to people who buy both versions first, then give everyone else who only bought 1 version the characters as free DLC but at a much later point. You'll be able to transfer your custom fighters from one console to another and play Smash Bros on Wii U with a 3DS. The End.
Having it much later could easily piss off fans. Having it a little bit later(like say a week) should keep people happy. Remember, the one reason to buy the other version is differences, which won't be what characters are in regardless. The other modes can still be good incentive, especially with the bareboned multiplayer options for the 3DS version. They obviously want people to buy both versions. Nobody is going to buy both versions if you can get the DLC characters after a while. They obviously want people to buy both versions. You shouldn't speak in absolutes. It won't be a very popular way to get people to buy both, but some will. I'm just one of them. I'm totally getting both no matter what.Nobody is going to buy both versions if you can get the DLC characters after a while anyway.
Activision uses a similar strategy with Call of Duty by having Xbox players get the DLC a month earlier.Having it much later could easily piss off fans. Unless the DLC characters are Mewtwo and Ridley, I don't think many people will buy both. You shouldn't speak in absolutes. It won't be a very popular way to get people to buy both, but some will. I'm just one of them. I'm totally getting both no matter what.
None of those are facts, just possibilities with ratios at best.
Right. It can happen. It just might not go off as well since Characters are the key selling point of Smash. It depends the series. Things like courses/items/modes, people will shrug. Characters are far more likely to cause an uproar.Activision uses a similar strategy with Call of Duty by having Xbox players get the DLC a month earlier.
I mention that bcuz I was a ps3 kinda guy n it pissed me off bad...yet i continued to play n buy the DLC bcuz I loved the game.
Anyways my point is that the smashers might get pissed but we'll get over it eventually as life moves on
I'd get both regardless of who it had. XD But I agree that the exact characters will matter when it comes to sales.Unless the DLC characters are Mewtwo and Ridley, I don't think many people will buy both.
(oh yeah I'm getting both versions too! how fun is that)
I hope that's it. Anything more is just punishment for those who do not own both consoles and both versions of the game. You'll be able to transfer your custom fighters from one console to another and play Smash Bros on Wii U with a 3DS. The End.
Yeah, I also hope that characters we unlocked stay unlocked.I hope that's it. Anything more is just punishment for those who do not own both consoles and both versions of the game.
That would only work if the trophies are unlocked in the same ways in both games. For all we know the new game modes on the WiiU should have their own trophies. As does the Smash Run that's a 3DS exclusive. Also, trophies transferring over would be nice.
Only if you can choose to transfer them or not. I have most trophies unlocked on the 3DS, but I want to unlock everything again on the Wii U. It is fun.Yeah, I also hope that characters we unlocked stay unlocked.

They are with the soundtrack on Club Nintendo.I believe at least it will unlock a trophy. Though I don't think there are any unnobtainable trophies found in the data from the 3DS version, so "nothing happens" might be what is going to happen :/
I do think they should "reward" owners of both copies somehow.
