Has this ever been done?

I realize this would completely kill the fun of character variety and would throw the element of knowing your match-ups out the window, but it might be an interesting way to offer bragging rights to the winner as the best player for that particular character, at least within the realm of dittos.

Of course, you could have multiple character tournaments at once, so it's not all just the same character at the event, and then pit the winners against each other in a fun bonus round.

It could be an interesting way to get people to try new characters, too.

Probably a dumb idea.

There was a Leon special tournament in Ontario earlier this year I believe, which was Marth only Smashville.
Personally I'd like to see a Ganon only tournament. No shirts, Warioware.

Mii only tournaments need to be a thing, and equipment should be allowed. This kinda tournament should be all about excelling at your personally designed character rather than having a ton of matchup knowledge. You design your character and get good at your character with no knowledge of what the other character plays like.
