Shulk Invincibility frames on Monado Arts?

I haven't seen this really. Did Shulk always have that, or is it just a random bug Smash 4 has that comes once every blue moon? Does it only occur when you're standing still and the little animation plays?

Oh this kind of thing is intentional.

When activating a Monado Art Shulk is invincible during the second that he starts posing if you don't move. Considering how that Shulk did it, I assume he got lucky and didn't mean for that to happen.
