Should the Wi-Fi safe version be the real version?

Currently in Project M, there are 2 versions of 3.5 available on the official site: The main version and the wi-fi safe version. The main difference in gameplay is that the wi-fi safe version allows you to air dodge without pressing R down all the way. I really like being able to wavedash with a light button press. Less fingerhurt. However, the way that a light R press makes you air dodge less distance than a full press (and I think wavedash slightly less distance?) is what I don't like. Overall, I slightly prefer the gameplay of the wi-fi safe version. Should it be the main version of the game?

No, it shouldn't. Some like you may find this wavedash with altered timing preferable, but the Full-set wavedash, which requires a full press, is the "original" version that was brought over from Melee. A much larger majority of players prefer it, as it has always been the default.

Further, stage banning functions aren't available on the Wifi-safe version, which has grown pretty commonplace as the norm for PM tourney play.

I think the real question is: will the PMDT ever be able to combine the editions?

Have stage striking + buffering rolls and spotdodges + light press air-dodge (as an option, like Tap Jump)!

Maybe some day...

The day I can save replays with full set...oh, the dream.

Yeah that would be great. The reason why they can't have normal gameplay for wi-fi is some weird explanation having to do with "de-syncing" or whatever. I'm okay with the way things are now, but something feels wrong about the wi-fi version's mini air dodge.

iirc, they said that brawl cannot distinguish the difference between a full press and a light press of the shoulder buttons on a controller. so if you attempt to use a replay from the full version of PM, the replay system will not know the difference, just saying you hit a shoulder button, which completely throws off the reenactment of the game being played, same thing goes for wifi, the mod will recognizethe inputs, but Brawl's system will not, so inputs will not register properly

not the best explanation, imo, and I'm sure a PMDT member will do a better job... if any of them felt inclined to help clarify.
