I live in Louisiana and I can never find any tournies on here. Me and my 4 friends are thinking of starting one because we can never make it to one. What are my chances of it being a hit? because i know noone that plays smash in my state other than my 5 friends.

Advertise it in your region's facebook page. All that's needed for a good local is at least 8 players and enough setups. Maybe 1 setup for every 3 people is a good ratio. Do you have a lot of space for a small local?

You should probably find/grow a scene before you start making an event.

If no one has any idea who you are they're not going to suddenly show up because you put melee in the title

you could start off hosting smashfests first and then start hosting tournaments at your fests when you get regulars showing up

Are you on the LA Smash Facebook page? If you're in Baton Rouge/Nola/Lafayette, they have something at least once a month. At the end of last summer, one of our monthlies broke 45 entrants for PM, so there are definitely people out there.

This is a really good way to start like host a Smashfest then start working your way up to like 4 bracket double elimination.

if there's already a scene, a facebook page and you got a venue you should be able to attract people. i don't see why people wouldn't come. unless you live like super far away from everyone in your region.

people will come
