Hey so Basically I was wondering if you guys had any tips for short hopping consistently other than just practice. I started in PM where all the tech skill is so much simpler and I can do all of it in melee when I can actually short hop consistently, my thumbs are too slow and keep full hopping when I don't want to. I know the best thing to do is just keep practising but I was wondering if there was anything else I can do alongside that

Really, the only way to do it is to practice. There are no shortcuts or magic ways to start perfectly shorthopping, it is just one of those things that comes with time. When you play, try consciously to implement it into your game until it becomes natural, but until then, practice practice practice.

Flick the bottom edge of the x button with the right corner of your thumbnail

I was in a similar situation recently. I was able to short-hop with most characters, but fox, shiek and falcon had me stumped. That was until I tried what EPsilon933 suggested. It feels weird at first, but now it's natural and I can actually short hop knee with Falcon.

TL;DR Flick/Draw your thumb towards you on bottom of the X button so that all you hear is a click

Remember that it's the amount of time the button is depressed for, not the amount of pressure applied. Also, you could try the joy stick, but it's arguably harder.

Other than that, there isn't much one can do other than to keep practicing (it will come with time.)
