There's no "trick" to double Fairs.
You just need to get the timing down and your fingers need to get fast.
You need to first Fair as soon as you leave the ground, and second fair in the IASA frames of the first fair.

It's also helpful to have a computer hold shield in 20xx and practice fairing off/on its shield.

I've spoken to 3 people who wanted help with short hop double fairs and they all had the same problem: they were mashing the C-stick instead of timing it properly. Since you can't actually mash the C-stick particularly quickly and the window for the second fair is pretty small (4 frames), you end up missing the window for the second fair when you mash.

Do the first fair immediately, and then just feel out the timing for the second fair until you get it.

Frame data:
Short hop is airborne for 37 frames normally, or 36 frames if fairing on first airborne frame (using an aerial on the first possible frame of a jump reduces the height of the jump, causing you to lose 1 frame).

Fair hitbox is out on frame 4, and is IASA frame 30 (earliest input is frame 29).
Last frame to input the second fair and have the hitbox come out is frame 33; therefore there's a maximum of a 4 frame window for the second fair.

In addition to timing it properly, something that helped me was tilting my finger from x or y to a for the first fair (without lifting the finger), kind of like how a lot of people doubleshine from y to b if that helps. The second fair you can use the cstick for to free up the analog stick to more easily control your movement.
