Shine Turnaround Bair

Sometimes when you go to shine bair your opponent you hit with a reverse bair because of the way you're facing, and if you're trying to take that stock reverse bair might be too weak. Lately I've been using shine nair as another option but nair is hard to get out as fast imo and it's also not as strong, so I've been trying to use shine turnaround bair.

The main problem I have is that I get stuck in my shine a lot, but I only get stuck if I hit something with the shine. I think one of the reasons is that I'm trying to jump out by moving the control stick up and in the opposite direction simultaneously (so diagonal kinda) except more up than over. Does this work usually? Is there a specific timing for hitting it to make it work? Now, if it does work, the other problem is that jumping out like that will make you DI in that direction as well, which may make you go out of the range that bair hits (if they smash DI the shine). I'm guessing if you jump out of shine as fast as possible then it won't matter but that's kinda hard too so yeah... Any advice?

?? Sorry I didn't get what you meant... I use control stick only for a few things --> one of which is shine bair. Using y/x makes jumping out slower and the bair comes out slower as well since you have to move ridiculously fast. I'm not sure if we're on the same page here.

He's saying you're trying to use the control stick to do too many things at once during a shine bair. You have to press down for the shine, left or right to turn around, then up to jump, then left or right again to bair. If you use Y or X to jump and c-stick the aerial, you only have to worry about the shine and turnaround with the control stick.

I personally just do:
Down-B, Left/Right, Y, Side + A

What is probably the real issue is that you are just trying to do it too quickly. If you can shine turnaround bair consistently without hitting an opponent, then the control stick motion isn't what's messing you up. You just need to account for the hitlag that is added to the shine when you hit someone. Try doing a shine bair really slowly, and then speed it up until you start getting stuck in your shine again. It just takes some practice to get the timing down.

I see what you mean now, but isn't the DI still a problem? Actually I guess it will be fast enough so that it shouldn't matter as much. . . thanks for the advice! I'll try and do it with the control stick first to figure out the timing and if that doesn't work out I'll try and use Y --> side+A. And I think you're right about the timing because the hitlag is just weird it's just frustrating me. >.>

Could you be more specific when you ask could the DI still be a problem? Are you talking about the opponent's DI on the shine, or the way you DI your jump out of your shine? Tbh, I rarely worry about either when I shine-bair. I'm pretty sure if you do it fast enough it doesn't usually matter.

As far as control stick vs. Y -> Side+A, don't feel obligated to do it by my preference. I can do it either way just fine, so it really won't make a difference other than what you're comfortable with.

I meant your DI after you jump out of shine, but obviously the opponent's DI matters too. If you're fast enough it won't matter though so I guess that's a moot point.

reverse bair is weaker than regular bair...?
i thought that it was like a sex kick in the sense that it only got weaker after x amount of frames
not what part you hit them with

has 3 hitboxes, the frontmost of which does 9 damage compared to the others which do 15 and thus has significantly less KB (1500 knockback power compared to 900)

what he ment with the DI is that if u perform the bair with the joystick+A button, ur falco will move to the side u r bairing to... if u use c stick u can bair to the right while ur falco moves to the left for example.

options:

a)

down+B/left or right/X or Y(X recommended)/ C-stick = slowest option cuz u will have to move ur finger from X or Y to the C-stick.. unless u play claw

b)

down+B/left or right/ stick up/ C-stick = tricky but if u get the timing is the fastest cuz u r jumping with ur left hand and attacking with ur right hand wich means that with just a bit coordination u can get the bair out as soon as u jump and also u can DI wherever you need to after u execute it. this is my personal choice.

c)

down+B/left or right/ X or Y/ left or right +A = 2nd fastest option and easy to perform however ur falco will be forced to move along to the direction u r bairing.. this means u cannot choose ur landing spot so freely, for example, a ledge cancel or landing on an upper plataform and such..

i assume there are more options but this are the most common ones...

I seriously can't believe some people still jump by pressing up.
Well most people don't use the control stick most of the time, but it's useful for a lot of things:
- avoiding wall jumps when ledge hopping bairs
- using aerials quickly out of shine
- jump cancelling up smashes and grabs
