It's useful when you know your opponent is going to try and roll away in their shield. The only problem is Falco has very few follow-ups out of his grabs.

It's actually a really easy technique though.

Thanks guys.. i guess to JC the shine.. i should press up since that would be faster than the y or x button (for me)

I press x. It doesn't really slow it down. You won't ever actually land a shine then a grab though. The shine hits at frame 1, can't be canceled until frame 4, then the jump is 6 frames, and can be jump-canceled anywhere in there I believe for a 7 frame standing grab. By the time the grab hit box is out the opponent should never be in range. Just use it for shield stun to land a free grab or condition your opponent during pillaring sequences.

I use it when I want to trick my enemy into thinking I jump back out of my shine (because that's my usual style). I just run towards my opponent, and do a JC shinegrab (that's what I call it), because Falco slides a little.

Oh, it's not as useful with Falco as with Fox in my opinion.

I would only JC Grab if my opponent knows exactly when to grab during Falco's pillar. Basically, JC grabbing out of the shine would be the safer way instead of pillaring. Pillaring is more riskier, but if you happen to land one, you'll be rewarded with more options.
