Hello, i've been playing falco, and while I can do both pillar combo variants (shine or uptilt), the shine variant is easier to do than the uptilt one (imo). (I am talking about slow fallers here) But i see a lot of people using the uptilt pillar combo more often. What are the reasons to use the uptilt in the combo? What makes it better than the shine?

Depends on the situation, but sometimes a shine won't hit the person because of their rate of falling, and an uptilt will. And if you try to do a shine in that situation, it is possible for them to jump out of it or airdodge or neutral air. Also, as you use a technique more and more, the damage on that technique decreases until you die.. so its a good idea to mix up uptilts and shines, but use alot of shines when fighting fastfallers. But if you manage to get a fastfaller into an uptilt at lower percents, you can juggle them a couple times with u-tilt, go into a u-smash or D-air and go from there.

Uptilt combos into fsmash and backair at higher percents than shine, and has better priority at low percents if they try a quick aerial to get out of it. You can also hit them higher in their fall to reduce the chances of jumping out. So generally utilt is better to use, but shine if you need to hit them quickly.
