Hey there! This is my first time posting here so forgive me if I'm messing with any forum rules.

When ever I am playing a match against a character with projectiles and try to approach, I always get hit by them. Now before you guys say "Well duh you're gonna get hit you're walking right into them" here me out. When I watch matches or play as characters with projectiles, people can approach and shield right after a dash. I've attempted this skill many times. But every time I do, I either roll or the shield comes out to late.

What is this skill called and how do I do it?

also you can't shield in your initial dash animation, just the run animation.
just tap forward on your analogue stick. that length that you just ran there is the time you can't shield. if you had kept holding forward you would be able to shield right after that period.

also i'd probably ask stuff like this in the general q&a sticky in the future. welcome to the boards!

You can also approach by walking, that way you will be able to shield immediately instead of having to wait for your dash startup to finish.

You can also approach with certain aerials against certain projectiles. Also welcome to the boards.

you have to shield while running, if you stop running and then try to shield you get caught with dash end lag which will mean its impossible to dodge the oncoming attack.

just practice it in practice mode, you'll get it in like 4 minutes.

I've always found that letting your control stick reset to it's neutral position and then shielding works wonders, as often doing it with that timing will result in a perfect shield.

Not sure if it works with a character that has a long skid animation...
