Okay has anyone noticed how you roll after hitting in your shield or before, it varys in the speed and distance you will roll?

I've especially noticed this with Yoshi.

It's kinda like how his Double Jump works where if he gets hit by "Wind", then the momentum multiplies with the force of wind.

It's the same case here, so if you were about to Backroll and got hit with a powerful smash, you'll roll farther back. While if you were going forward, you'll practically roll on the spot.

:yoshi: This is in part because Yoshi's shield has auto-lightshielding on it.

Taking any hits in shield will slide Yoshi's egg back a bit, but like Mmac says, the sliding will increase multiplicatively if you combine the backslide with a roll. The physics engine in this game works with multiples and exponents instead of additively, which is why Meta Knight can get such crazy gliding recoveries over and under and around most stages.
