Shield Dropping

So I've been playing a ton of sheik lately and I like to incorporate a lot of shield dropping into my play.

OHHHHHHH MYYYYYYYYY GOOOOOOOOOD. The technique is very good overall to use, but with sheik I'm finding it to be something heavenly.

Shield Dropped Fair is incredible, catching people completely off guard sets you up for like anything and happens really frequently.

Needles are flat out stupid if you get the spacing. Basically can hit ANYWHERE off stage if done properly. Downward angled needles hitting sweet spotters from below is plain stupid. Not only that, but the fact shield dropping messes with your oppponents spacing so heavily that if you shield drop needle into their shield, its basically a free grab.

I KNOW HOW MUCH YOU ALL LOVE FREE GRABS TOO

If you're fancy you can even reverse needle cancel>waveland>edgehog (although its impractical IMO)

Baiscally, I feel like you Sheik players should look into this; It's proving incredibly helpful for someone who doesn't even main the character.

I think its use is much more limited in practice than in theory. Nair OoS if shield-pressured or a normal fall through a platform if not shielding cover most options shielddropping does.

Then again, I'm a noob, so perhaps I just don't see what more experienced Sheiks can do with this technique.

It's in the video, pay attention! You gain like 4-5 frames extra to punish.. pretty neat. I should def master this.

shield drop takes 1 or 2 frames, I think it's 1. sh oos takes 3 frames (the nair comes out frame 6 if perfect)

is this the isai drop?
or is it a dif thing?
It's similar. Basically it's a way to instantly drop through a platform from your shield. It can be done while running/DD'ing so it's useful for some character's platform games.

If you press your shield then diagonally down on the control stick, you'll fall through the platform.

If you do it fast enough the shield won't really even come up.

Unless I'm thinking of a different technique...it has been a while since I've played. >_>

ok cool
heres some questions, i went over this thread
http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=274206&page=6
to get more info on the last part of the vid where u can shield drop when ur shield is gettin hit
but only METHOD 2 is mentioned in relation to it...... so that means it dont work with METHOD 1???

also somethin i noticed is that the METHOD 1 button inputs seem to be the same for when u wanna powershield projectiles (on the ground)
so can one master both METHOD 1 and powershielding?(TO AN EXTENT, AT LEAST GET BETTER AT IT)
