Shield drop question. Can't find certain frame data

Hey guys, I had an idea of doing shield -> release shield -> buffer shield drop in order to get out of a tricky situation.

I'm curious if this is faster or slower than shield -> wavedash down OOS -> buffer shield drop.

I can't find falco wavedash data or shield release data (is it the same for every character?) so any help would be appreciated :D

Buffer shield drop - Forward -> Tap down -> Shield

Edit: It seems that I'm an idiot and forgot you can do a shield drop OOS.

Still curious about this, however. It can serve as an interesting mix-up to juke some people out.

I was confused why you were asking about how to let go of shield in order to buffer a shield drop. lol Buffering shield drops is weird because it seems like you can't do it a lot of the time. It seems possible in some types of lag, but not in others. I'd have to test it buffering out of letting go of shield.

The lag for letting go of shield varies by character. I believe it's in M2K's "SSBM Statistics List," but I know Falco's is 15 frames because I remember M2K saying that WDing down OoS frame perfectly (5 frames to jump and 10 frames for landing lag) is the same as just letting go of shield.

So, basically, there is no difference.

Well I'll be. o_o

I'm not talking out of shield stun, though. I put in the first post what I meant by buffer shield drop.

I was never talking about doing shield drops out of shield stun. If you're asking if shield dropping is faster than WDing OoS and then dropping through, then yes, it's a lot faster... Probably 15-20 frames faster because you have 10 frames for landing lag from the WD, and then I think a regular drop through is 8 frames (but I'm not sure) vs. shield drop's beastly 1.

Also, I tested buffering shield drop out of letting go of shield, and it doesn't work. You'd have to move after letting go of shield if you want to buffer it, but if you really wanted to you could just input the shield drop manually.

Ah, well, thanks for testing.
