I was fighting a computer on stand in training mode (bowser) and when i hit bowser of the ring i was repeatingly throwing out my needles and i noticed that when i was repeatingly doing this, bowser was getting closer by the edge little by little. Then when i smacked bowser out another time and only threw one needle. Bowser survived by up+bing. does the percentage matter for needle edge guarding or no?

You need to be smart about it. I know it's tempting to always use needles to try to gimp recovery because it it keeps you out of harms way, but don't do it if you're going to be saving them. Using any technique too repetitively will spell trouble. And besides, even if you can't kill them with needles you can still rack up damage.

Hit him before he uses up-B to hinder his horizontal momentum. If you don't, it just pretty much resets him to neutral and allows him to up-B again.

Here's the thing about using needles to gimp recovery, its about when/where you hit them.

The first use is hitting them as they use their second jump. Your trying to keep them from getting any distance on it.

Keep in mind that after that, if they up-b and you hit them with a needle, they'll get another one. This is where you have to play smart, because you want to hit them with a needle so you can follow up with somethign else.

For instance, if Falco is recovering and you hit him with a needle when he's close to the stage (but can't side-B), you can run off and punch him since his up-b has a long startup.

Needles can also be used to force people lower (especially if your throwing them from the air). This can be good if they've already used their second jump and your setting up for an edgehog.

very good to use needles exspecially against fox/falco who appear alot in turnys. When they use up+b they have delay at beggining if u hit them at that time they fall and try again then you repeat. This exspecially works against fox and alot of times people that dont play shiek alot will forget to up+b again. Also fox falls extremely fast so even pros have to be quick to hit that up+b again. Just watch your timeing and placement like S2 said.
