I have. It's such a great series and yet nobody has ever heard of it. I always ask people if they have ever heard of it, already expecting people to say no. However, I did meet one kid who said he had. I was dumbfounded. We became great friends after that.

Anyway, I thought the first game had a cool, dark plot that was a refreshing change , and the judgement ring was exactly what I wanted to keep me from getting bored after doing multiple battles. However, it could have been smoothed out a little, and some of the characters were obviously just tossed in at the last minute (Keith).

Covenant was awesome, but I did have some gripes with it. Some of the characters weren't balanced that well (Joachim as Great Question = 700+ P-Atk), and the plot had too many jokes that took the seriousness out of the plot. Overall, though, the gameplay was much more enjoyable, since i didn't have to worry as much about SP, the crest system was awesome, the game was long, and each character had their own fun skill learning side quests. It's probably one of my favorite rpgs of all time.

I never got around to playing FTNW, but from what i heard, it wasn't serious at all, and the game was much shorter. Oh, and Yuri's not in it :urg:. I probably would enjoy it, but not nearly as much as the other two.

I agree with what you said.

FTNW i played a lil bit through, i have not been able to finish it yet, but it is still a pretty decent game even tho it has nothing to do with the others. IMO it is the worse of the 2, but its still good.

Covenant though i really REALLY enjoyed, it just amazed me.

Im so glad I saw this thread, though. I was actually searching for this a couple of days ago. I really hope it doesn't end up being just us on this forum.

There were a couple of things i noticed in the two games I played. Yuri always looked different in the char. portraits than he did in battle. He also looks much younger in covenant, even though he's a year older. The new catch phrase didn't help (Bite me? Really?) Kato seemed kinda wimpy in the first game, but was jacked in the second. And about Gepetto's backstory: His wife dies, he makes a puppet that looks like her, and then he starts talking to it. Not exactly a stable character. Most of the other characters from sh1 made cameos, but i didn't see zuzhen at all. I liked him, he was like the crazy uncle i never had... Come to think of it, Halley didn't make an appearance either, but he kinda pissed me off (I hate you! I hate you!)

One last thing i noticed. Of all of the characters in Covenent, Blanca the wolf had the highest base Int rating. That cracked me up.

Yes, Yuri did look different, and speaking of portraits, do you know where i can find some REALLY good artwork for this series?

If you mean the official artwork for the game then I wouldn't know where to find it. I've seen some pretty good fanart on a site called deviantart though.

Yeah looks like its just us :(. Hey I just thought of something. Did Shadow Hearts sell well in Japan? I mean if it was as obscure there as it is here, it's a miracle that it even made it to the states.

I actually read it didnt sell that well in japan or here, but Covenant did get rpg game of the year from ign in 2004 so maybe thats why a sequel came

I hate it when great games aren't popular enough to get the credit they deserve. There's never gonna be a shadow hearts 4 because the others didn't sell as well.

I like final fantasy games, but they're so ridiculously popular that new rpg franchises never get noticed. Come on, final fantasy fans, there's other great rpgs out there. Show Shadow Hearts some love :(.

All of them are for PS2. You'll probably have to buy the games online, though. I was extremely lucky to find one at gamestop, and I only got the second game from a friend. If you can find the games, I highly recommend them, especially Covenant.

CLEAR! *applies defibrillator to thread*

So, my friend has FTNW as well. I'm going off to college, and I probably won't see him much anymore, but if I do, is it worth it? I've heard that FTNW is also shorter than Covenant. Are there less sidequests too? I love sidequests... Except for the man festival. that was just weird.

I started FTNW but never finished it. It's a good game just not as good as the first 2 imo.

I'll probably ask him for it next time I see him. I won't have a lot of time to play it anyway, now that I'm going to college. Sounds like I would enjoy the game, but it definitely won't kill me to wait.

Random interesting story: When my friend was lending me covenant, I lent another kid SH1. We were all in the same physics class btw. The next day, the kid with SH1 was absent. The day after that, my other friend was absent. The next day, I was sick. And finally when all three of us were present, we didn't have physics. I was completely convinced that some law of nature was preventing three people who have played Shadow Hearts from being in the same room at the same time.

So did you find what you were looking for as far as portraits go?

Yeah I do that sometimes too. That's how I knew where to find good fan art for that series. I was looking for it.

Hypothetically, do you think the developers would start making shadow hearts games if a lot of people started showing interest in it?
