SH Fair

So I always see people using SH Fair with Diddy and saying how its an important part of his game. But whenever I use it I either miss my opponent by going to high (with the exception of DK, Bowser, D3, and Charizard) or use it on the way down and suffer from landing lag.

Could someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? And when you guys do it, what buttons do you input?

You need to buffer the fair. Input the fair IMMEDIATELY after jumping.

If you're using a GC (Which I'll assume you are) slide your thumb from the X/Y to A to buffer the fair, or if you use tap jump, you can double stick the fair to make it much easier.

I think setting Z to jump is a better alternative to double sticking (in my opinion), but either way in most scenarios it's okay to just slide your finger from x/y to a while holding forward.
