Several Characters cause disc read errors

I've had this problem recently where selecting certain characters caused disc read errors.

The ones that did were:
Wario
Peach (Sometimes)
Wolf
Ice Climbers (Sometimes)
Pit
Pikachu
Pokémon Trainer Characters
Zelda and Sheik
Samus (Both forms)
Jigglypuff
R.O.B
Snake
Sonic
Toon Link
Olimar (On match end)

Cleaning the disc and using an official lens cleaner didn't fix. Is there any other way to fix the error besides sending it in to Nintendo?
