Smash 3DS Select Button

Hello I just wanted to see if anyone had this problem or not.
I just got Smash Bros 3DS and it is awesome as usual but I ran into a problem where my Select Button doesn't even function after a hour of playing. And I only paused less than 10 times during my play time.

I have a vanilla 3DS and the select button has been working fine from 2011 to today, and now I can't pause or do anything related to the select button which really sucks.

You use the start button to pause and such in the game, not select. As far as I know, the select button has zero function within the game. Unless you're just mixing up the names of the two, in which case I have no idea.

start and select both pause it,
so just use start
