Okay, Crimson King kindly told me this goes in the Light House forums, so here I am ^^

For those who don't know what Second Life is, it's an online computer game (it's free btw) as addicting as WoW (those who like it probably know what I'm talking about).

It compares a bit to The Sims, but it's actually way more realistic. The graphics may not be as good, but there's a rich variety of things to do.

So..... I'd like to start a thread about that topic because it's been long on my mind since my bf plays it. Well, guess what? He doesn't give me much attention anymore. I really learned to hate Second Life...with a passion.

So is there anyone who can rely to that?

Anyone who plays the game and loves/hates it? Anyone try to persuade me that the game is actually worth the time? (even if I don't think so)

(btw, I looked for a similar thread and I didn't find one, but I can be shortsighted, so sorry if there is already one ^^;)

Secound Life is sick! no offense to anybody who's ever played it! There are a huge amount of perverts and other sick things. It's also addictive so of course second life becomes first life

Yea, in the entire Internet there are no other sick people except for Second Life.

Alright, enough panning the game with stupid comments. If you have nothing to add to the topic, don't post.

Heh, Second Life.

I told myself one time that if there was a Linux client, I would try it.

Well, I tried it, and was immediately struck by the bad graphics, slow loading, bad controls, etc. It took me forever to get off of the Tutorial Island thing.

After getting off it, I explored some, but there were no people around to talk to, except one guy who followed me around, asking "What do I do?" in German. I ended up stumbling into somebody's temple of bestiality porn, and that's when I left.

Remember when the media loved Second Life? Yeah, I'm glad that's died out.

Well, I think the developers couldn't make the graphics so well because of the framerate, if I'm not mistaken. Anyone who ever played it might notice the huge lag. There are so many people online, it was inevitable from the start that the graphics couldn't be as good as many people hoped for.

Besides, the game is still full of bugs and glitches and I can't even imagine how much time they put into the game. I mean, the terrain you play on is vast, huge, gigantic.

Still, that doesn't mean much. The potential is there, but it's not exploited to the fullest. I think this game could have been better, but as it is now, that's the best they could do with such a huge amount of players.

I still hate that my bf is into it, though. I mean, I deserve better than this. He doesn't notice me. Yeah, I play the game too, but I'm completely uninterested and just play it when I'm bored and I want to chat with him since he only opens his mouth during play to tell me how awesome his avatar looks and how it affects other people. He's enthusiastic when it comes to this, but when it's about our relationship, he's quite cool.

Of course, I know he still loves me, but it's always about him and his darn friends on the effin' Second Life, I even start to tell him he should stop telling me about his stuff since I couldn't care less. What to do?

Video Game addiction is a pathetic, pathetic thing. What you could always do is pose as a male character and "stalk him" until he gets aggravated and quits.

If you get less attention than a video game you can probably do better, unless you look like a monkey or something. (If you do, stay together for the bananas, they are much harder to find in the wild around here.)

Wait--this thread isn't about Second Life, Crystallion. It's about how your boyfriend is addicted to it. I have an inkling about how that feels, and I'm sure it's hitting you pretty hard.

You could use an ultimatum: "Me or your stupid game!" Or you could let it run its course, but that might take weeks, or he may never tire of it.

I'd tell you to find a new boyfriend if I didn't know you two have been together for so long.

Internet/video game addiction is like a real thing. Sometimes it can be fatal--at least a dozen people have died sitting in internet cafes in China, where they play for days on end, without taking the time to hydrate themselves by walking 5 feet to the counter and buying a drink. I'm not saying you should be worried for his health--I'm just saying that it can become a psychological addiction, just like certain drugs (for example, the nicotine in cigarettes).

So, like, I'm sorry, but I don't see much that you can do here.

Also, I wanted to say that Second Life sucks again. Because it really does. Freaking pixelated horse porn.

Yeah well, we recently found some sort of agreement that he'd be a bit more attentive towards me and such. That has to count for something, right?

And I don't look bad I gotta say. I don't look like a model, but neither do I look like a monkey. I don't "ugah" around either ^^; I don't have very much self-esteem, but I'm confident in my looks (even though I'd probably never say I'm a beauty)

Well, I wanted to know if anyone has similar issues with Second Life, but of course this is also a thread for those who love it and can give valid arguments as to why Second Life is as popular as it is right now.

Oh and thanks to everyone's advice!
