Seasonal Effects in the Game

The game uses the Wii's internal clock to mark day and night, and even more specifically to mark when KK plays a song. Considering its halloween now, if we play the game on 10/31/08 do you think we will see some halloween treats incorporated into the game?
-Maybe the Animal Crossing characters will wear masks in Smashville
-Maybe Ashley's song will play as the main theme

Maybe, but there could be some people who don't celebrate these holidays and don't buy the game for that reason. I doubt Nintendo would want to lose sales just to add a few easter eggs. Of course, they might not be able to call them Easter Eggs either, that being a holiday too...

There's the possibility that holidays would show up in Smashville. Like that Santa Reindeer will show up on Christmas Eve, or the fireworks would go off if you're playing during the 4th of July.

I have a feeling that seasonal stuff might appear in some kind of download patch. I think that would be a cool idea. As well as adding things like rain? Maybe?

What, you mean like it would sync in with the Wii's Weather Channel, and the weather in your city will be the same as in Smashville?

Not everyone in the world celebrates the same holidays....

In that case you'd expect to see some kids having fun on May 5. May 5 you say?

It's a Japan game remember? They are not gonna carry the USA flag and do fireworks on 4th of July.

Animal Crossing: Wild World picked up it's own set of made-up holidays loosely based on our own to counter this issue.

I think that would be kind of lame because what if you live in California where it rarely rains and never snows...that would be boring. It should change based on factors that allow everyone to see them.

Meh. Forced political correctness is just as about as the prejudices themselves. Nothing is wrong with celebrating Halloween if a fair amount of the world does. And don't call it Christmas, call it "Holiday" or whatever to signify the idea of vacation, family time, giving presents, etc.

There are also plenty of "neutral" holidays I'm sure we'll see, such as New Years.

I don't want to get all political, but I am all for Holidays. People mostly hate holidays cause they hate people that celebrate them. The more holidays the better :]

Anyway, remember in Melee (possibly N64) when you change the language to Japanese you got some additional features that were more Japan oriented? Maybe do the same thing there.

These were just aethetic changes to a couple of trophies, announced name changes (IC's and Purin), and the overall language text.

I remember they showed the Virtua Boy in the Japanese language, and also the Devilman trophy.

My point was that these were minor aesthetic changes.

If would be nice to see different holiday effects take place depending on what language you chose, but I doubt Brawl will be like Melee in that you can change it from JP to ENG right away. They might take that option out who knows....

If you notice instruction books for Wii games, they are in English, Spanish, and French. This could be an indication that the Japanese option could be taken out....
