So as I was gathering information on propper SDI, I stumbled upon a video on YouTube that says the method of SDI by wiggling your thumb (or any finger) multiple directions on the control stick to get out of combos like Ryu Utilts, Mario Utilts, etc. does not work because the pro-controller's hardware doesn't allow it. Instead, the only way to "SDI" with a pro-controller is to mash the control stick in the direction you want to DI and then constantly return it to neutral position and then repeat that process over and over again.

I literally just started practicing this SDI mechanic (because you know *cough* $5.99) just recently and before I get too sinked into this mechanic with a controller that may or may not support the commonly accepted strategy used by those who play with a GameCube Controller, can someone tell me if this information on the pro-controller is true? If I need to ask the question more briefly, I will.

Can I SDI the traditional way using a Wii U Pro-Controller?

I myself am a Pro user, so this does interest me. I've always been inclined to believe that yes, you can SDI the same way with a Pro (that's how I've been doing it), but perhaps without the added precision/feedback that a notched stick provides. In fact, the notches are the only thing I can think of that could cause such a problem. I haven't tested it, but I don't think you need to worry about it.

Have you noticed a difference in your ability to escape combo strings like Mario and/or Ryu's Utilt? The reason I have a hard time determining whether I am SDI'ing or not is because 2 of the three characters I main (:4littlemac: and :4falcon:) are both fast fallers who are naturally prone to getting combo'd hard because of it especially by the moves I mentioned so in my head, I am always expecting to not immediately get out of the combo regardless of my attempts to SDI.

That's the thing. I haven't really compared with or without, plus SDI isn't something that I consistently remember to do, so I'm not sure. I will try to test it out when I am able.
