sd card question

this may be in the wrong spot but why does pm only allow for a 2gb sd card or smaller?

Because of Moore's law. When the Wii was made, it was only made compatible with 2GB SD Cards. The console itself can't read anything larger than that unless you hack it. Nintendo probably didn't think anything larger than 2G would be necessary.

Expanding on the above poster, brawl was created during a period where the Wii could only read 2gb sd cards, so it's a hard coded limitation.
Eventually, the Wii allowed for larger sd cards, without the need for hacks, but older games were still stuck with this constraint.

The 2gb limitation only exists for the smash stack method (Which is the 'hackless' method)

letterbomb hackless method allows the use of SDHC cards, as does homebrew.
