SD Card Problems

I just recently got a 2-gig SanDisk SD card, and my computer is unable to read it.

I use a 2006 IBM Thinkpad and a USB Multi-Card Reader.

Many things occur when I try to use this:

If I insert the reader with the SD card plugged in, it fails to show up in my computer.

If I insert the reader by itself, it works fine.

If I insert the SD card into the reader when it's already plugged in, all the LEDs on the top of the console flicker off every few seconds.

When I try to access the H: drive (the one with the SD Card), the My Computer window locks up.

If I try to close the window down, the entire computer interface disappears leaving only open windows visible.

As soon as I disconnect the reader, the interface comes back.

I use Windows XP with Service Pack 3. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are 2 kinds of SD cards HDSD and SD, check what type your card is and what your computer can handle.

And yes there are 2GB HDSD cards, and yes I know they are normally SD cards.

Also how long did you leave it connected it might be lagging due to firmware on the SD card trying to install....*firmware shakes fist.

Speaking of firmware if your on vista/7 look for that approve software usage thing sometimes I have had it lock stuff up until I click on that window and press approve/cancel
