Although an on-and-off casual player throughout the years, I have recently (since around Nov 2009) decided that I want melee and I to take our relationship to the next level. :)

I live in a small mountain town, so my only training partner has been my good friend Tairseth whom I introduced to melee's sexier (aka competitive) side. We will both be attending our first tourney soon, (HERB 3) but before that I would like to have a video critique to let me know what habits to break, techniques to work on, etc.

So, with that being said, I humbly seek the guidance and wisdom of my fellow falcon players. Any advice, comments, opinions, praise, etc would be highly appreciated. Tips on how to practice by myself would be helpful as well, and any training regiments/quirky stuff like that would be appreciated.

Here are two semi-recent videos of me playing:

Vs Marth-Dreamland

Vs Marth-Final Destination

There are a few other videos of me playing on the same youtube channel (SweetSmashBerries) if anyone is interested in giving further assistance.

Thanks!

Thanks for posting! The gentleman I can do, but feel pretty inconsistent with. I can do it slowly most of the time with just A,A,A but the A,A,A+Z method I can't get to work at all. I remember having mixed luck with the 3rd method, of which I forget and haven't tried in a while.

Can I perform a fast gentleman with just A,A,A or will I need to switch to a different method? And is timing all that matters on success rate, or are there other factors?

As far as capitalizing on grabs go, what specifics should I employ? Since these vids I've gotten a little better at dthrow > techase, but still struggle starting combos on Marth from grabs. I've heard up throw > knee is guaranteed **** around 60-90% on Marth, but I find myself eating a fair/counter about 85% of the time.

A A pause hold A works the best.

as for the vids, nair moar, DD moar, empty SH moar, and punish better. You'll be good.

Marth comboes, Uthrow uair **** works. If you stomp a Marth his stock should be gone.

Yeah you can. All you need to do is cancel out the rapid punches with another action. Basically, do another action almost simultaneously with the final hit of he gentleman (the hit before the rapid punches).

It can be anything you want: you can run left or right, jump, crouch, push l/r (if you do it this way, your shield will come out), you could even push b if you want. The important thing is to do another input almst simultaneously with the final hit.

Anyways, just try to polish up your advanced techs. You seem to be missing them more often than hitting them. WDing, I think, is a great way to make Falcon's movement more fluid.

Try to get your advanced techs down. It's absolutely crucial that you hit them, especially against a character like Marth. Know what to do at certain % when you get a grab. Throw in some more nairs and uairs (don't spam it though, there are ways to get around it). DD more.

Great to see another falcon player.

Your tech chasing is nice, but your general play style is very static. Through out some nairs, and try out some platform maneuvers. SH left, right, and centre and keep your opponent on their toes; always ready to fly in with a grab or knee.

you dont dash dance or neutral air enough. You kind of just stand there then randomly attack. Learn how to utilize both. You should also get your basic stuff down like L canceling, etc.
