any tips on how to get the "scoop" uair consistently? i've messed around in training mode on 1/2 and everything and can't really narrow it down to what hitbox i'm supposed to be hitting with/what height etc

if, I'm understanding what you're saying you're gonna wanna land the uair right as you leave the ground or right before you land. Instant uair off the ground is gonna be harder to hit, especially on a falco cause he's shorter. but you're gonna wanna uair as soon as you're leaving then ground, and it'll pick them up. Watch Lord, he uses that kinda uair for zoning, there's a match where toph talks about how and why he does it somewhere.

The other way, throw out the uair as you're landing and l-cancel it and it'll pop characters up and forward for like any follow-up. I know on marth, below 100% it leads to like anything you want. you just wanna be hitting the ground as that first hitbox appears.

I use Y to jump, so when I'm in shield, do I just quickly jump and then flick the c stick up? Or would it be more sufficient to jump with control stick and then c stick up, or jump with y and then control stick up+A?

Or just tell me now you all do it lol

out of shield, I tap jump and flick cstick up, you just have to do it slower so you don't upsmash out os shield. you can really do whatever you want so long as you're quick. I just like splitting up the workload between different fingers, if I'm using my right thumb for everything, I'm too slow.

Lord uses the z button to do instant uairs. I'm not a fan of it, but that is one way to do it. The other ways have already been listed.

For the record, I wouldn't really get into the habit of using the control stick to jump with falcon (different story for spacies), except for OoS. Trying to perform short hops and also trying to combine it with IDA/foxtrot for SHFFL'd aerials is just inefficient IMO.

Its a good idea to practice instant u-air against a standing fox. The key to landing it consistently is by properly spacing it as to outbeat the nair

Yeah I don't use the control stick to jump. It just seemed like it be a lot easier because you split the workload between two different hands. But thanks!

I think that I'm the only weirdo that double taps the c stick to up air out of shield.
