I'm not going to post this in tactical/general since that is where intelligent discussion goes to die. It appears this section of SWF is much more easier to talk/debate with

Anyway here in South Australia there are hardly any MK mains and brawl isnt taken THAT seriously. We all know hes the best but aren't about to change mains to him and most of the top players here won't use him. There really isnt an MK problem. But despite this, the tournament organiser here, Jamage, came up with a simple idea to make brawl tourneys more fun for the rest of us who dont feel like counterpicking to beat an MK user.

You can only win one game per set with MK, then he is banned for the remainder of the set. You can use him a maximum of 2 games in any set where you may lose twice, or lose the first match and then win the second, after which you must change character. All stage ban/counterpick/strikes are allowed for MK.

Upon reading countless threads here about dealing with MK, in my OPINION, this is the best method I've heard for keeping MK fair for competitive play. It deals with the whole 'MK is the counterpick for the entire cast' argument in that the MK player is forced to choose another character, which the opponent can then counterpick against while allowing MK to be a main in a tournament and not unfairly ban MK when his mains have put all their practice into him.

Now of course my experience on MK dominance is non-existant as he is not overplayed here in Australia, but I'd like to see what other people think of this who may happen to frequent tournaments where every 2nd person either mains/counterpicks you with MK.

Good/bad idea? Discuss

You say Australia doesn't have an MK problem? Then why does this need to get fixed if nothing's wrong?

I'm seeing a very good example where a community is being swayed completly by opinions and no actual facts. I say you little island people wait till something fishy actually happens before enacting handicaps.

Australia has an even WORSE case of MK dominance when you see the aussie rankings list. last time i checked he was triple snakes points, and most of the the best players main/secondary him, skewing his points/placement ratio as he always places highly. He is not overplayed in numbers, but he is dominant in top 4 placings in tournaments. This is not the case in South Australia though... yet. Jamage said this idea was to encourage any future MK mainers who plan to come to SA tournaments to pick up a secondary. Instead of new people having thier main banned which they may not entirely understand why.

The problem is that not too many people here take brawl seriously enough to learn how to beat an MK. MK mains dont place top here because a few of us have taken the time to learn the matchup and will CP snake or are better players overall, however for all the other people who come to our tournaments, MK is just ridiculous. Over time its fair to assume MK users will grow in numbers. What we dont want to see is the few people who attend tournies (maybe 18 on average) have to put up with an MK every second round and get discouraged from coming

This move may not be required in adelaide YET, but I did post to see what other regions think of this idea, and how it might change thier outlook when they go to tournies instead of thinking along the lines of 'how many MK users can i beat today before they steal my entry fee' and being able to use thier main for all matches in any given set without worrying about being blind counterpicked for every match in a set with an MK
