Samus vs Lucas

My friend plays an EXTREMELY annoying lucas and I can't figure out how to deal with it. Basically I can't approach because of pk fire, and if I go in the air, his up smash has priority. I cant make him come to me because of his **** pk thunder which is too long to dodge through and then whenever I'm off the edge, a combination of pk thunder and pk freeze makes it pretty hard to get back.

My general approach is to spam homing missiles and hope he misses a pk thunder so I can come in and attack him during his lag, but it rarely works out that way. It's only been a day, but it's just so **** annoying.

Basically:

*Lucas seems to have priority over samus in most moves (especially when approaching from the air and his fsmash)

*Lucas can spam his projectiles like crazy and I can't avoid it

*My samus needs a lot of work

HM and Smash Missiles, Zair, etc. if you don't feel safe to approach. His upsmash has huge priority and an insane hitbox, but it has a lot of lag afterward which leaves him open. I played my friend's lucas a bit today, he's nothing impossible. Of course he isn't your friend, so I've no idea how to really help. I got in a lot of fast falled dairs on him too. Just look for the moment and grapple spam a lot.

You need to learn how to do spacing pressure (so he's unable to projectile spam you to death). Change your mindset from attacking him to just 'getting close' to him, and worm your way into his space by run+shielding until he's no longer comfortable pkfiring you. Once you have him cornered, mess around with his mind. Let him have the first action (you can always shield+upb if he actually does something surprising). Then counter with samus's great ground game and zair. You can mix arials in later when you figure out how to do them right.

If you're being hit out of the air often with his upsmash, you're probably just being predictable. Just mix it up.

As a Lucas player, I can offer these tips:

Stay close to the ground. Approach with the zair and make sure you get close to him. There are only so many times he can run away and spam PK Fire before he gets to the stage's edge.

If you're close to Lucas, there's not a lot he can do, so wail on him. Send him all over the place and stay on him at all times.

Use your charged shot when he's recovering w/ PK Thunder; it's basically the only safe time to use it against Lucas.

Beware the "shine" that appears when Lucas cancels the PSI Magnet. In the hands of a good player that thing is pure ****.

Spike him. Ness and Lucas are both quite vulnerable to dairs given the nature of their recovery options.
