Just got into the Project M scene and figured this would be a good spot to talk about it.

Been a Smash player since 1999, when my brother and I literally found a SSB cartridge at a park near our new house. Since then, we haven't stopped playing since. Might as well admit I'm a Melee guy as well (SSBB was one of the biggest disappointments and SSB4, albeit the right direction at a point, really lost me at the DLC opportunities and Sakurai's comments on the competitive scene was very unwelcoming for me) and Project M is one of the best things to ever come into my life as a longtime player.

Hoping to spend some time over at the PM subforum and find some great discussions on any potential or new content there. Still a newbie when it comes down to it and would love to learn more about the community!

Thank you all for the kind introductions!

Hah, it's really one of those stories people remember you for. I don't think I'd have been the same Smash player today had it not been for it.

Hello and welcome to the Smashboards!
What, I liked the DLC. Ryu, Bayo, Cloud and Corrin were really unique characters.

And all the power to you on that. I liked Bayonetta herself. It's just the savage attention to having K. Rool in the game (something I've really wanted for a while myself) and even Microsoft mentioning that Banjo-Kazooie was up for grabs (another huge opportunity I've always wanted for a while), and after so much teasing, they just really disappointed me with pushing more Fire Emblem characters and Cloud (which, to be fair, had very little to do with any Nintendo-related stuff and could have picked something more related to their original games. At least Snake started out on the NES) and gave us this..."surprise"

I felt at least with PM, it's trying to give the dedicated old-school fans what they want, and it's being continued through PSAs coming out like K. Rool, Black Shadow (HUGE F-Zero fan) and Waluigi.

But I'm not one for conflict, these are opinions after all.

Snake didn't start on the NES. Metal Gear started on the MSX. The NES Metal Gear was just a shoddy hackjob of a port of the MSX2 version. With the Fire Emblem characters: I actually saw quite a lot of people wanting Roy back, and Fates was quite a popular game in Japan that was about to be released in the west, which is why they thought it was the perfect timing to release Corrin.
Cloud was a bit random, yes, but atleast he's a very cool character to play as, and is definitely very unique.
