Sakurai DOES hint with his updates?

First of all, no, this does not concern Olimar at all, just something I realised yesterday after going back to the temple stage update when seeing the 2nd returning stages update, if this has been discussed already, then just lock.

Now then, you should all probably remember the New Pork City update?
Yes, that stage about the huge, and broken, stage?(http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/stages/stage14.html)
Quoting Sakurai, he says "[Refering to the size of the stage] About as same as that Temple stage—you know the one I’m talking about?", and bam, exactly 2 and a half monthes afterwards we recieve news of the temple stage(http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/stages/stage18.html), not only in mentioning that there are returning Melee stages, but getting it's very own update.

I'm not really trying to prove anything with this, nor claim any other of his texts were hinting at anything(Even though this does strengthens the arguement of Knuckle's appearence), I'm just saying that it's not impossible for him to hint at the future updates.

Again, sorry if this has been discussed already, I haven't been here long enough to know)

"Up until now"
"Wario alone is special"
"Heroes always arrive late"

Don't overthink Sakurai's sayings. They could easily mean nothing.

And I always thought the Temple Stage returning as obvious.

I know, though that's exactly why I said above the he CAN, not that he does(A few times actually), so people won't take as though as I said his other quotes were hinting at anything.

On the other part, I dunno, I never considered such a horrible stage to return, Dreamland, Corneria and DK's 64 stage are obvious, but not such a stage nearly no one likes.

I think he does hint stuff on the site, that just seems to be his personality. Better making prophecies off his hints then the prophets talked about on these boards.

Actually, quite a bit of casual players including my friends enjoy Hyrule Temple. I even like it up to a point. It's just that most competitive players don't like it.

Sakurai does things like this through very clever wording to build up little amounts of anticipation for the game.

You raise a good point. I said in the podcast before that I don't think Knuckles' mention in the music update raised his chances at all unless Ridley was confirmed as he is mentioned in two different updates (if I recall correctly). This may indeed help Knuckles' chances.

The only problem is that you can't counter this argument since other things he's said, i.e. "Heroes always arrive late," haven't been revealed yet, if they ever will be.

Who knows? "Heroes arrive late" could've meant Olimar today. We have absolutely no way of telling what goes on in Sakurai's mind, as it seems a twisted and malevolent being :p
While the OP raises a good point, there are also a lot, lot more updates who supposedly "hinted" at something and haven't got an update to match it. Hyrule Temple is easily one of the most popular stages in Melee, so when he asks if we know what he's talking about that isn't a very weird thing to do. Neither is bringing it back.

What if this "late" is when the game comes out in Japan?
That's basically the latest you can be.
And I also want to mention that, unless people hack the game as soon as it comes out, it's going to take about two days for someone to get all the characters.
Most of the secret characters come from SSE, and we know that the story could take many turns, thus revealing A list of characters, instead of ANOTHER list of characters.
It could be that you have to play several ways to get all the characters.
Or they've built the story in such a way that you'll get all the characters, no matter how you play SSE.

I did notice Sakurai saying things like "Heroes arrive late." And I did think about it.
All I can say is that we have to wait. To get the game and see.
WE'll only know if he's hinting when we have the game and then go look back and check on what he hinted....But who the hell is going to do that when they have Brawl on their hands????

Heroes arrive late.
I think that refers to Captain Falcon.
Captain Falcon to be confirmed the day after brawl is released!..
Back to the topic, yes, I think he does hint things, though I don't fancy Knuckles' chances.
I'm expecting great updates up until release date in Japan. Helps build hype about the game...

Actually, this does concern Olimar.

Olimar was hinted at like crazy on the DOJO.

-In the "Trophies" update, a Bulborb was seen.
-Sakurai has made numerous references to flowers.
-In the "Trophy Launcher" update, a Firey Blowhog trophy was seen.

I doubt that Sakurai would've included trophies of a bunch of minor enemies in the game if Olimar wasn't playable or Pikmin wasn't a prominent universe.

Yes, but notice the minor enemies were all from REPRESENTED series.

Series that weren't represented like Pkimin or Custom Robo only had about 2 or 3 trophies of the main characters.

lol, simple as

i think that maybe Sakurai does hint slightly in the updates, but not as deep as some people think. i mean, sometimes its obvious that he's trying to hint something, i dont think even he is trying to hide it sometimes, but when people take completely meaningless and innocent statements and try twisting them around in some ludicrous attempt to find some sort of hidden gem that could tell us something about an unconfirmed character that might just possibly be in the game, it just gets ridiculous.

i would back up my theory with examples of how people have misinterpreted updates in the past, but i cant think of any right now

Wouldn't it be total irony if a racing champion would be late? *lol*

About the whole, "Heroes arrive late," quote...we can't possibly be able to tell what it means. Seriously...there are countless, "Heroes," so we can't pinpoint a single one. I mean, maybe Sakurai was talking about updates. Maybe he was talking about in the actual game...in SSE.
The truth is, this is all MEANINGLESS SPECULATION. I don't mean it in a rude way whatsoever...but I mean, can't you wait for another 15 days, or so?

Guys... Seriously, Temple Stage was a given. One reference doesn't mean all of the other ones are to be taken for truth. These last weeks are filled with crap and I can't believe how many people take it as truth :O.

Probably over analyzed but I wouldn't complain if Knuckles was playable. He is my favorite character from that series and would fit the game quite well XD

Doubt any of that means anything though.

3 cheers for making mountains out of mole hills. I swear the time it takes people to buff up updates to be more than they are is enough for another update to come out.

Off to find the answers which I seek...
I think the "hints" you speak of are to make ponder what could be in store. Wether they mean something or not is a different story though. 'Heroes arrive late' I think means nothing except to make discuss that line and build up more hype for Brawl. And look..it has. And to keep us coming back to the Dojo to see if we get an answer.
