Jason Griffith wins the debate for the Sonic Voice actor spot. But ask yourself this: Does it really matter? How many times is Sonic going to talk? He talks in his taunt and in the "Sonic is coming to Brawl" movie thats not even in the game. The grunts sound pretty cool, and i'm fine with the voice. Sonic doesn't speak much, and neither do any other characters in Brawl.
Have you noticed that Sonic's Taunt Voice sounds pretty cute? He sounds like his old, cocky, woman-magnet type of Sonic like in the TV Shows, Sonic Underground, The Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog, SATAM, ETC. For those of you who watched those shows and liked the voice, you will be pleased with Jason.
Does Samus speak much? Do you hear her voice? No. Do you Hear Sonic? Yes, but he only "Talks" in his Taunt. The rest of the sounds he makes are his grunts. The grunts ain't that bad. I like his new grunts. Did you notice ho Sonic sounds like he means business? With his kiddy Taunt voice, you do need to mix in a little bit of his serious, angry voice in there as well. All of Sonic isn't just a Holly-Jolly Spin-Dash Robuttnik Name-Calling mania. He has a serious side.
For example, In Sonic X, he turned Dark Super Sonic, a Temper-Filled Pschyo who is ten times stronger than his normal form. Even Dr. Eggman has excused Sonic of his temper in that scene. This shows that Sonic is showing his serious side with his grunts. Now, for the "Sonic's The Name, Speed's my game!" voice. this is Sonic's regular, cool, next-gen voice. Although it isn't in Brawl, it was cool to watch. This very well may be a Special Video in Brawl's Special Video Section next to The "Snake Joins The Brawl" Video. He may be alongside Mario.
Finally, when he chuckles in that one part of the trailer when he and Mario do their poses together, thats regular Sonic too. Now, my debate on this is that Ryan Drummond may have done the voice for the trailer, but Jason Griffith for the game. Fans wanted Ryan Drummond, so they used his voice in the trailer. Ryan Drummond must have been too busy, or may have lost his voice in the voice actor production for Brawl. So, they used Jason Griffith.
Finally, my final thing to say is, Snic doesn't speak much. He speaks twice in the game, and twice in the trailer. The trailer isn't in the game, so that's two thing's he says. The grunts dont count as voices, so that's ONE voice left. Many like the cute voice of Sonic's Taunt, many do not. Still, We can live with it.
Thats all.
